ATTENTION: NO LONGER ACCEPTING RESERVATIONS ON OPEN TABLE! We arrived for our 11:30 reservation today only to discover that the restaurant appeared to be closed and employees were preparing for a private wedding party. The manager was surprised to see us and explained that Simon’s does not use the Open Table platform. He had no explanation as to why I was able to book and receive email/text confirmations up until the day of our reservation. He told me that the restaurant now uses Tock. He was kind enough to allow us to dine although it was quite uncomfortable because of the wedding activity and obvious inconvenience our arrival caused. The manager didn’t really apologize and just kinda argued that they don’t use Open Table. The server was amazing though and she was attentive and thoughtful, despite the awkwardness of it all. As we were leaving another party of six arrived with a store bought cake. They too said they booked via Open Table. THEN…..I overheard the amazing server tell the manager that a party of 10 was expected later in the day. YIKES!!! The wedding party is gonna have some wedding crashers if Simon doesn’t do something about the Open Table reservation platform soon! Don’t use Open Table. Call the restaurant instead!

The Cliff House is a uniquely excellent restaurant, with great service, excellent food, a wonderful old building in perfect condition, and an incredible view out over the Columbia River Gorge. Why would anyone in Hood River dine anywhere else?

So glad the old hotel was saved as it’s historic and on a beautiful spot on the Columbia. The food was so-so and service inexperienced. Hopefully both will improve.

Got charged for coffee for the whole table and only 2 drank it. Nckle and dimed on everything and breakfast taste like Dennys maybe worse than Dennys Dinner was ok way over priced for what we got but server was amazing at dinner.

My husband ordered the duck. It was not properly cooked - overdone but the fat on the skin was not rendered. It was a rubbery mess. We sent it back and ask them to replace it with a steak medium rare. The cut of meat they served was not recognizable. The steak was raw and so full of gristle that my husband could not cut it. We sent it back and asked for a refund. I ordered the salmon, which was just marginal. The appetizer was OK, but nothing special. Surprisingly the cocktails were excellent. The service was very good. We will not go back.

We love the food there, the mussles are so good and the salmon was very good. We loved our waiter and the staff. It's very slow in Feb so it's a great time to go. I look forward to the menu for the more formal dinning, but I liked the relaxed fit that the dinning has right now.
