Shinsei Restaurant - Traditional Sushi / Contemporary Asian Kitchen

When we came up with the concept of Shinsei we wanted a place that reflected our lifestyles: sometimes we went out to dinner with our kids and sometimes with our friends and husbands. We wanted to create a place where a night out with the kids didn’t mean food adults had to suffer through or a night out with the parents didn’t mean a stuffy place where kids had to wear a scratchy clip-on tie. Shinsei is just that: a neighborhood gathering place with date night appeal.

But not so unexpected that you won’t be able to decipher the menu or recognize your favorite dish. Our signature poppers, for instance, are a sophisticated mix of late night bar food and sumptuous finger food with a distinctly Asian flair.

    The dumplings tasted like grease and the seared salmon on top of our sushi roll tasted like butane. I think maybe it was just an off night because we’ve heard nothing but wonderful things about this restaurant and we were excited to try it. Won’t be back.

    My husband and I left dinner last night and couldn’t stop talking about how great it was. First of all, the inside is decorated so wonderfully for Christmas… it’s just beautiful! The service was beyond what we’ve had at any other restaurant in the DFW area. Now let’s talk about the food! I don’t even know where to start. We ordered 7 different items and each one was amazing!! My husband said “I think this is the best dinner we’ve had since moving to Texas!”, and that was 6 years ago! 10 out of 10! We will be back!

    Hadn’t had this place in a while and was shocked at how good it was. Crispy rice rock shrimp hot rock all top tier. And I was on a date so the how across from me had a ball (I think). Espresso martinis helped

    Dumplings weee good as were the green beans. Ordered two rolls (Dragon Lady Pressed and Spider) that came out mostly rice and very little seafood. Wines by the glass sauv blanc and Chardonnay were ok. Point is y’all used to be top notch (been many times through the years) and I was glad to pay for it. Last night’s meal I came away thinking WAY over priced for just ok quality.
