About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Good for business meals

Sekoya Lounge & Kitchen is now open! We are thrilled to offer a modern American cuisine, while emphasizing flavor profiles of Northern California. We will have a farm to table concept, using local and organic produce, and sustainable seafood. Our kitchen houses a Hibachi Grill, and all of our breads and desserts are house made.

Sekoya, pronounced just like “Sequoia,” means just that. Our cuisine, beverage program, and design work together to pay homage to the dynamic location of Palo Alto, while also introducing something new and fresh to the community. The design of Sekoya is meant to evoke an organic, botanical experience inspired directly by the California-native Sequoia and Redwood tree also known as “Palo Alto”.

In addition to reserving unique experiences in our Lounge and at our Tree Table, we will also have two private dining rooms: The Pacific Room and The Sekoya Terrace.

We look forward to serving you soon!

Called and adjusted an 8:45pm reservation to 9:15pm on a Friday night. Was kindly obliged. Upon arriving we were greeted and led to a good table in the back. The ambience was elegant and worthy of nice dress. Our server was prompt and cheery. For appetizers, we ordered the oysters, which were wonderful with lemon and tabasco and that we paired with truffle fries. After a decent wait, our entrees arrived. I went with Mary's fried chicken, and my lady had the roasted halibut. Which was all very good, and although we were totally full, I wish I had ordered a side. For drinks I had the pinot, and my lady a white wine. Sekoya is a restaurant that provides excellent service, atmosphere, and food. Will be back.

Great vibe, amazing food - the only minus would be the portion of the starters- which were extremely small for the price point.

We had a very underwhelming dining experience here, despite the lovely decor and reviews which had us excited to try. The chicken was very dry and sauce quite sweet. We returned for the burger which was just ok. Cooked properly, but taste was bland. The cauliflower (awkward texture) & squash with vadouvan was even more bland. Very surprising given this type of curry is typically blooming with flavor. Also, the restaurant temperature fluctuation was extreme. The entry door being kept open created a strong cold draft, then when adjusted the heaters blew directly onto your face. Website is lovely and we were optimistic to try, however we won’t recommend or return. Please seek to improve, as the location, decor, and menu vibe are on point.

Very underwhelming. Was very disappointed, had high hopes for this restaurant. Food was mediocre. The funniest thing on the menu is the cookie dessert - it’s just a little bowl of mini cookies. This shouldn’t be on an adult menu. It was like the cookies crisp cereal - doesn’t go with this restaurant at all. Need to do better, wish I had taken a pic.

Sekoya offers a modern, trendy vibe in an otherwise sleepy street on California Ave. I enjoyed the Shiso Moon mocktail, which surprisingly had a pleasantly lasting shiso flavor that didn't disappear after the first sip. The food is average, and could do with better salt seasoning on most of the dishes. The burger, which seems to be a favorite many reviews noted, had good texture but again lacked salt. It certainly needs the pickles it comes with. Fries are not listed on the menu but you can order them- which we found out when we saw another table munching on some. It comes with some truffle mayo sauce thinly drizzled over the fries, just the right amount of truffle flavor but a tad overpriced for the amount of fries (somewhere around $12). Overall, probably good for a night out with a group of folks who want to enjoy a variety of drinks, with some shared food.

The food was excellent. I am a vegan and the fried mushroom starter was excellent. The rest of the party enjoyed crispy prawns. The salad, entree and side orders were all fantastic. Highly recommend this restaurant. We will certainly be back here
