Walk-in's always welcome! Screen Door is a restaurant that presents itself as a love letter to the American South and the revival of regional cooking. Each day, the restaurant receives natural, local organic meats and produce from nearby vendors. The inclusion of regional Pacific Northwest ingredients into a menu of dishes developed in the south has created a unique flavor profile in Screen Door's menu. Many of Screen Doors dishes draw their inspiration from Louisiana and the Cajun cooking that's found there. These include our world-famous fried chicken, Lowcountry shrimp and grits, smoked andouille chicken gumbo and fried okra. Other items, like the house-smoked beef brisket and braised pork shoulder, come straight from the state of Texas. The rest of the South is well represented as well with a Carolina pulled pork sandwich, chicken and waffles, crispy fried oysters and a pimiento cheese & sausage biscuit sandwich with a fried egg and cheddar grits.

We wanted to eat here during me and my friends’ long weekend trip on Thanksgiving but it was fully booked (our fault for not booking in advance) but I really wanted to try it before we left and glad to have booked it the night prior leaving Portland. All I can say is that there is a reason that it was fully booked and that a lot of good reviews were because everything was amazing. The interior, the staff, the ambiance and the food were top notch. Please do get the chicken and waffles! It’s their signature and I tried it as recommended by our server since we wanted to try different dishes from the menu and we all loved it! The spices weren’t too overpowering and it was so tender, juicy and the crunch on that skin was everything! Would definitely recommend it when you go to Portland. I hope to try their desserts next time.

Thanksgiving dinner at Screen Door was wonderful! We are not turkey eaters, but had the salmon, which was perfectly cooked with all the sides. Stuffing, mashed potatoes, carrots, squash purée, green bean casserole, homemade rolls, and amazing Banoffee pie and Pecan pie! It was all excellent! Way to go Screen Door!

Amazing Thanksgiving meal - every bite was delicious. And the cocktails too. We ate outside with a dog, and it was cold in spite of the heat lamps, but otherwise it was a simply perfect dining experience! Loved the decor inside, especially the framed handwritten recipes from the owner's grandmother (reminded me of ones I have from my grandmother!)

I’ve eaten at Screen Doors elsewhere in town but it was our first experience in that location. It was fast, efficient, and great food. Very nice interior.

As always the food here is consistently delicious! I am impressed that they are able to keep the quality and the taste at their standard. The ambience is lively and casual. I also think it is a good value restaurant especially when you go with big group. Best comfort food in PDX!
