   The food was hit or miss. The risotto was terrible and the minionette was horrible. But the short rib was great and sides were excellent.

   Amazing service from start to finish beginning at the hostess stand. We never had to worry about whether our server was coming back to check on us, he also had an assistant server who cleared plates and checked in on us as well. (The check in’s were not overbearing). Food was phenomenal, we had the 14h NY strip, clams, oysters, olive bread & sea salt and a bottle of Daou Cab. Great ambiance, cool setting - there is even a display of oysters on the wall with rocks behind a metal bar caging. The bathroom also had a unique approach to soap- used an essential oil infused salt! Highly recommended and will definitely return on our next trip to Monterey!

   I came here for breakfast and dinner. The staff was really friendly. Morning service took for ever to get our food and our check. Dinner was a little bit better. Then towards the end of our dinner took forever for our server to come back. One of our side dishes was cold and forgot an item. Took a while to get our check.

   We sat at the bar. It was pretty busy in the restaurant but the noise level was decent even with a live musician in the corner(happy we weren’t sitting too near) excellent service and food. Great splittable portions. We had grilled and chilled oysters both so fresh! Caesar gem salad was a two person split and we ordered the lobster pasta, also splittable. Also ordered the olive bread with sea salt butter.

   I ended up having to eat alone but it was a great experience! The food was great! My aged steak was maybe a bit overcooked and came out as medium well instead of medium rare. Loved the hot oyster with the passion fruit ibérico butter! I could have made an entire meal out of those! Great cocktail choices!

   I've been telling people about Saltwood all day... We got there late because there was a traffic tie-up but they could still seat us at a nice table. First off I enjoyed washing my hands with the salt scrub they provide in the restroom. Then we ordered cocktails from their menu.. both were excellent. Our friends arrived and chose the $18 burger special with fries and their choice of beer. We ordered chilled oysters for $3 each but large, served with two different sauces. I ordered a bowl of clam chowder, which was super creamy and delicious, with big chunks of clam throughout. It was probably the best I can remember having, though I'll need to go back to Fisherman's Grotto to compare. The Grotto offers 6 oysters for $16, which is another reason to go back there. Overall I highly recommend Saltwood (parking is way better here than Fisherman's Wharf but requires a drive to Marina.) There's no view to speak of but the decor is fresh and uplifting. The servers are very thoughtful and we will definitely be back.

   We ordered a sampling of the grilled oysters. All oysters were teeny-tiny. There was more topping than meat. Flavors were okay, nothing special. The fried monterey rockfish was outstanding. Coating light and crispy. Fish moist and flaky. 3 pieces came with plate. We opted for salad instead of fries, which was nice and fresh.

   The food was amazing. The whole fish was off the chain! The service was a bit off, but not bad. If you are fussy about service, you may have been annoyed about a few things. We were there with friends and having a great time so it wasn't an issue for us. Quality and value were spot on.

    When we first walked in, we had a reservation at six. We came in at six and they told us to go to the bar and wait for our table. Almost all the tables were available so we had a drink waited. Then my husband went up and asked if our table was ready after they seated three other couples. Then the hostess came and said whenever we’re ready she’ll set us down and we said to her we were ready when we got here so we’re ready and it was just really weird. Our waitress was great. The food was good and the rest of our evening was enjoyable, but the hostess, however, was not the best first impression for us
