   There were not enough staff at the restaurant. Two waiters, one of whom was also tending bar. This meant service was very, very slow. We had to ask several times for our drinks and food items that were not served. They were also out of ingredients for at least two advertised cocktails. There were not many customers . I felt the staff was friendly and doing their best. But the kitchen was very, very slow., probably as understaffed as the serving staff. Our party of 5 were there for almost 90 minutes, having ordered just simple appetizers and sandwiches or salad and one cocktail each. One friend said this is typical - food tastes good, but often missing items and extremely slow service. If you are going to an event and want to eat here, give yourselves at least 30 minutes more than you would expect.

   We chops the Sahara for dinner before the concert at the Fox. The lamb chops and deboned chicken was great. We had side car cocktails that were excellent.

   We came on a show night at the Fox Theater and they were understaffed. They tried hard but sat too many tables.

   Probably ordered wrong meals. Salmon came very undercooked(raw). Had to send back. Fried eggplant salad tossed heavily in dressing. People next to us ordered basic dishes that were good.Our server and manager did apologize and didn’t charge for salmon so it was handled properly. May give a second try because convenient to Fox Theater and order differently. Portions are generous and not overpriced.

   Server did their best. Restaurant is not staffed to handle a full house. Beer was “from a new keg” but very flat. Drinks arrived 10 minutes after the appetizer. Food was good. Not sure if I’d return.

   This was our first time at Sahara and it did not disappoint. The service was exceptional and the food was fantastic. We will absolutely eat here again.

   The restaurant was absolutely beautiful, food delicious, and service impeccable once we finally got seated. Was kind of ignored for about 10 minutes even though my husband and I had reservations. A group of 6 Police officers walked in right after us (who I’m assuming we’re on their lunch break) , and got seated right away. The restaurant was not crowded and there were plenty of open seats. It would have been nice to hear some nice background music to top off the ambience. Would kind of help drown out chatter from neighboring tables. I would definitely go back though.

   The new Sahara Restaurant and Grill in Detroit was fantastic. The team helped me set up a special dinner and from the start to finish it was terrific. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was perfect. highly recommend the restaurant and will use it again in the future..

    Restaurant didn’t even honor the reservation. They turned us away at the door. We had to scramble to find other dining at the last minute. On the flip side, JoJo’s Shakes across the sidewalk was delicious, and thankfully quick since we wasted time on Sahara.
