Ruta Oaxaca means “Road to Oaxaca,”a historic state in the southern part of Mexico. Mr. Castillo & his Partners are keenly focused on honoring Oaxacan culinary traditions, whose fame is derived in great part from its many varieties of moles.By legend,these ancient recipes are more than sauces,they are the very focus of the meal.Ruta Oaxaca proudly features four moles,each prepared using the Oaxacan mole recipes that have made the cuisine world famous. Good was excellent. They didn’t have their ANC license yet so were unable to try their margaritas. I got mole enchiladas and they were excellent. Meat was tender and the mole sauce was well done. My wife got tacos and she really enjoyed them as well. It’s a good restaurant and worth going to

My husband and I tried out this new Brooklyn location on Smith Street and were very happy with our dinner. The entrees offer a new take on Mexican food. My grilled fish was perfect, the corn and quinoa base and jicama salad were great additions, Hubby got the Asada entree and the medium cooked beef was juicy and flavorful, not stringy and tough as beef can sometimes be. Looking forward to going abck and trying some other dishes.

They don’t have a liquor license so there are no drinks. The food is underwhelming with small portions and service is a bit slow. The back garden is pretty but it just really did not live up to the other reviews I read, quite the bummer because we brought friends from out of town here while they were visiting and it was disappointing.
