   Amazing views in a beautiful restaurant. The staff were excellent and so was the atmosphere. A little disappointed with the size of the oysters but the other food we ate was delicious.

   I've been to Rocksalt many times and come back for a reason, it's typically great food, service and a lovely venue. Unfortunately this time, I came away disappointment at the service we received. Due to ordering the sharing cod and chips, we had a little longer to wait than usual, but they were very good in letting us know, and we were happy to wait the extra. The issues were mainly around the attentiveness. When we arrived, we ordered drinks and had tap water for the table. That emptied out pretty quickly for a table of 6, as not everyone had their own drinks and kept to water. Yet, no-one replaced the bottle, even though one of the waiters kindly filled up everyone's glass at the start, leaving the bottle practically empty. Due to the extended wait for the food, some of us had finished our drinks before the food came and could do with another, yet no one came. When we did get their attention, we had to ask multiple times for the water. It seems they were understaff from my perspective, I totally accept it was a busy day, but we were there late afternoon, which seemed a little quieter. I will of course be coming back, as I fully expect this was a one-off.

   Great breakfast today for Mothers Day, but then it's a great breakfast every time. Made even better today as the sun shone and breakfast was served on the deck.

   We arrived at 1pm, ordered our food and then waited 1 hour 45 minute for our mains to arrive. The first time I asked where the food was the waiter said they would check but never returned. The next time one of my party got up to speak to a member of staff and was told ‘don’t know’ in regard to our meals. We then asked a waitress if we could move inside as the temperature had dropped and she went away and never came back! The next time I asked I was told there was no space which was fine - at least we weren’t ignored again. It’s a shame because the food was excellent and the staff were pleasant but we felt abandoned for most of the time. On reflection, I would not pay the discretionary service charge again.

   Good food poor service. Very late main course, when it came 2 dishes were lukewarm, not hot. I didn’t like the ‘we are busy’ excuse, when the restaurant was half empty.

   We arrived early so that we could choose where to sit. The restaurant ageed to this request. Later, when we arrived the table we requested had been given to another couple. We were then seated next to a couple with a crying baby. The manager said it was not possible to reserve a table. As the restaurant had rooms we decided to saty there for the night. Breakfast was included and to be taken in the bar. We were prevented from sitting where we would have liked because the table was reserved. An obvious double standard. The classic full English breakfast came with eggs (plural) as you like them. only one egg arrived and cooked to the opposite way that I had requested Regarding the meal at Rocksalt , I requested the skate wing as detailed on the menu. What arrived was half a skate wing. Upon requesting an explantion I was told the the fish was priced by weight, but this fact was not mentioned on the menu. I was very disappointed with this response. This is not a cheap restaurant and we are happy to pay for a special meal, however all these issues spoiled what was meant to be a special occasion hence the poor review. Charles Brown.

   Nice venue with lovely views over the Harbour. Friendly and helpful staff. Food was nice but both fish courses were a little over cooked. Service was quite slow or you could say, we weren’t rushed! Only a small selection of wines by the glass and mine could have been better. I would certainly go back but maybe not for a while.
