Roast offers a quintessential English dining experience, perfectly located above Borough Market. With "delicious food from the freshest of ingredients," it's a haven for those seeking a refined ambiance. While service can be hit or miss, "excellent breakfast choices" and a "fantastic Sunday roast" keep patrons coming back.

Overall we enjoyed our late Sunday lunch at Roast. We were worried when we saw how many tables/people had been crammed in - it was very different from my memory of Roast years ago. However the food was tasty (if overpriced) and the service was very good. I could hear that someone on the table behind me was less than happy with their service, but we were served quickly and efficiently. I won’t be rushing to go back, but I did enjoy my roast cod. And the wine (merlot) was really good.

Over priced and under delivered. The place is beautiful. The noise level is extreme it is hard to have a conversation. The food was good but not great. For the price you would and should expect more. The service was ok, he was pleasant but seemed overworked. He wasn’t as attentive as he should have been. I wanted to go there for a while so I and glad I did but I won’t need to go back.

We chose Roast as we were shopping at Borough Market. I pre booked our table for 7 people at 5pm 24th November. Upon entering we were showed to our table the restaurant was extremely busy. The table were were given only seated 6, we told the waiter that we booked for 7 to be told no it was booked for 5, we even had a phone thrust into our faces of a screen shot saying 5. This was very rude and unprofessional. I took out my phone and said to our party that I had definitely booked for 7 and showed them my confirmation saying 7 people. My husband took my phone over to the front desk to prove that it was 7 to have the waiter throw his hands up and rudely say it was a computer problem. We were then all squished onto the table of 6 so very uncomfortable. From then on it just went downhill we waited 40 mins to get our starters those that had cooked starters all said that the food was cold. It was then another 40 mins before we received our main course. By this time we had to rush down our food as our minibus was picking us up. The food was ok tasting all be it again not hot. We ordered 2 bottles of wine for the table which we had to ask to be topped up and once finished no one came to see if we wanted any more drinks. We didn’t even get to see the desert menu. I feel that the restaurant was overfilled and they struggled enormously to keep up with offering the service that should have been given. Very poor management skills and very unprofessional in the way they spoke to us. I would not recommend this restaurant.

Admittedly we went on a very busy Sunday evening but the table wasn’t ready and we were asked to wait in the corridor, which wasn’t the greatest start to our meal. The food was excellent and one of our party said it was up there with the very best of roast dinners, and I wouldn’t disagree. The pork, beef and beef Wellington were all superb. The room was very noisy but we could still hear each other without shouting at each other. However, the room looked lovely and very Christmassy.; What really let it down was the service. None of the staff seemed to enjoy their job and there were very few smiles, other than from the two ladies at the reception/coat check. Again, I know it was busy but there seemed to be a lot of waiting staff around. Attitudes ranged from downright surly to perfunctory, which was such a shame as the food was delicious and really well presented. This is our second visit and the first time we had two really delightful waiting staff, and what a difference it made! Food was also excellent on that occasion. Tops marks to the chefs, sadly let down by waiting staff. But will go back just for the pork belly!

We had a reservation and asked for a corner table due to hearing issue but were sat in the middle of the restaurant. We ordered cocktails and they came after our main course came which was within 10 minutes of us ordering our food. We felt they were rushing us to finish and leave so it was not a very leisurely dinner. The restaurant is beautiful! They gave us the wrong bill at first which was $100 more than our so they quickly fixed. Our server was not very attentive and did not seem to check on us. We are staying at the Four Seasons Tower Bridge which had recommend this restaurant so I feel if they had made the reservation we may have had a different experience.

Food was fantastic - service was not great. Friendly staff but no one ever came by and we had to ask for everything we needed.

Absolutely the worst service ever! Aesthetically looks amazing and it's busy however the service is very very poor. We waited an hour and half for our food because they had lost our ticket to give to the chef. We asked the waiter what's happening and pretended to go and ask. When the food came to us I found a piece of string which was wrapped around the meat, after I had taken a mouthful of food. Lucky to have not chocked. The manager had taken my meal off the bill and given us a 10% discount. When coming to pay for the bill.. they were very very quick to bring us the card machine and the bill.

Terrible service, we arrived at 7pm and had to chase to get our main courses at 8.40. Sat there for over 30 minutes with dirty starter plates and no drinks.

Very keenly priced. The food is good but it does not warrant the price tag. The service was slow, brusque and i have never come across such upselling.
