Res American Bistro is a casual, yet elegant two level dining destination perfect for every occasion. Make a “Res” for a casual bite, a special night out, and everything in between! Our menu features fresh takes on contemporary favorites such as lobster tempura, roasted baby lamb chops, handmade pastas, and our 20-day butter aged NY Sirloin.     Worst experience. Made a reservation only to show up and the door is locked with a note saying closed for private event. Tried calling but they never answered the phone. Will never come back. Called the next day and was told the owner would call me back. Still waiting for a call, 3 days later.

    We made a reservation a week in advance and received an email confirming a day ahead from open table. When we arrived for a family birthday dinner before a PPAC show, the restaurant was closed!!! There was a handwritten sign saying Sorry Closed to the Public and a small group was having dinner inside. We had to scramble to find food with no reservation and a time crunch so that we didn’t miss our show.

    We arrived at 5:15 for our 5:15 reservation which was co formed via email earlier that day. There was a hand written sign on the door that said “closed to public”. There was a single larger party in the restaurant right by the window and they could clearly see us looking into the window and door and double checking our phone to confirm the reservation and not a single person came to the door to offer an apology/explanation, nothing. We had show tickets and did not have time to reschedule that close to the show which is why we made these reservations many days prior. No correspondence from open table. No correspondence from the restaurant. No apology, explanation, alternate suggestion. Nothing. Very disappointed in the entire situation.

    Upon arrival for our reservation found the doors locked and a handwritten sign on saying the Restaurant was closed. Received no notice from the restaurant or open table. We had to scramble to find alternate location to dine at the last minute. Very disappointed.

    Think twice before making a reservation here! I made a reservation 3 weeks in advance for a pre-show (PPAC)/birthday dinner for 5 PM. Drove 1 hour and arrived on time only to be told the restaurant was closed due to mechanical failure, and all employees were told not to come in. OK, it happens. But, then I was told that all reservations had been contacted to let us know of this closure...NOPE!!! No call, text, or email received. Yet, there were people walking in, sitting at tables, and looking at menus. Sound fishy to you? It sure did to me. Walked around to find someplace to eat and came to George a few blocks away- they bent over backwards to accommodate us and I can't say enough good things about them.... service was outstanding, great beer tap selection (and wine, as well), excellent dinner menu and food was delicious. So, if you are thinking about dining in Providence I suggest you stay away from Res and proceed directly to George- you won't regret it. I can not give any ratings for Res, as I was not able to dine here.

    The food was phenomenal. The Creme Brulee was unbelievable. The chef even came out to greet us.
