There are almost three hundred year’s of stories buried in our walls.
Once the host to visiting heads of state, sea admirals, noblemen, merchants and seafarers, the Purty Kitchen, Dun Laoghaire’s oldest surviving premises, is today continuing a rich tradition in the social history of the Dublin licensed trade. We have been going to the Purty Kitchen since they reopened. Having followed the lads from Rock Lobster. Unfortunately they seem to have caught the “shrinkflation” bug. The buffalo wings starter had 9 of the smallest wings possible for €11:90. The €20 burger only came with a handle full of chips and the best of all, 200ml bottles of coke. Hopefully this is only a temporary illness and not a permanent disease in The Purty Kitchen.

Returned for a family (Birthday) meal. Menu changed and some of our favourites no longer available - why ?

The music was a notch or three too loud, but generally we had an enjoyable evening.

In addtion to the slow service two of the four meals were not as good as pervious visits. The fish pie lacked "fish", as it was mainly potatoes and the chicken supreme while tasty was slightly over cooked. Have had better meals in the past.

Food could have been a little bit better. I had Moules frites and it was a tiny portion of Moules for a main course. Mussels are vvv cheap. Otherwise it was good, very buzzy and staff were great. Thanks

We had a table for 5 in the heated patio area, on St. Patrick’s day. Food (mussels, burgers and sea bass) and service were superb as usual, but the terrace area was quite cold. Blankets were provided, and the overhead heaters were on, but we were quite cold coming from a 90 minute queue and 30 minute outdoor deck tour of an Irish Naval ship. We never really warmed up during the meal. The tables around the walls may have been a bit warmer, but we were in the centre, just beside the uncovered area, where some other diners went to smoke. I’d recommend the Purty kitchen but avoid the heated patio unless the outside temperature is over 15 degrees.
