Fifty eight years ago, Elaine and Pierre Boissiere established their eponymous restaurant at its current location, years before Carmel Plaza shopping center was built around it. They sought to offer the city of Carmel-by-the-Sea a relaxing and comforting venue modeled after a European chateau where tables are thoughtfully spaced and fresh flowers, fireplace, candles and soothing musical notes are integral part of the dining experience. The ambience sets the tone for French country food served with a great deal of care for detail and pastries baked daily on premises. It is a testament to their far sightedness that Patisserie Boissiere Restaurant continues to fulfill their vision to this day.

Charming place with a great bakery. Food was delicious, prices were reasonable, waitstaff was friendly and helpful. We were there near closing, so it was very quiet, too(in a good way). Excellent French dishes.

Such a cute restaurant. Our service was very nice but I think something happened to our order bc it took a really long time to get our food. The waitress kept coming and say it will be right out but it was over 40minutes which was strange but fine but surprising. Our meals were huge when they came. I joked with the staff they need to charge more. All was good except I ate so much of my dinner I had no room for Their amazing desserts. I guess I just have to go back for just dessert next time. Win win

French Country restaurant with warm, quiet ambiance. Service is courteous and attentive. We have eaten here a number of times and always enjoyed the experience. Food is always excellent. Menu offers a good range of dishes. We especially recommend the lamb shank and French onion soup. Wide range of pastries, cakes, tarts and other deserts made on site.

Best restaurant in Carmel. We always have 2 meals while visiting! Love this restaurant and the owners are lovely! The onion soup with added sherry is divine and the Oso Bucco and fish were spectacular! Never have room for dessert when we dine. Will have to go just for tea and dessert one afternoon when in town! Sit in the main room near the fireplace and relax!

They always deliver find food and excellent service. This is like French home cooking. One of our favorite spots in Carmel by the sea.

We had a wonderful and relaxed dinner with excellent food and service. We met the owner and had a nice chat about Naples, where both his family and mine are from. Also got pastries from next morning's breakfast, and they were wonderful. All made right there. While the parking under the building is pricey, it's very convenient. We will be swinging by to get more pastries!

Wonderful, old school Carmel restaurant! Since 1961! Current owner has done a wonderful job carrying on community traditions while keeping his restaurant current for our international tourist industry.
