Known by generations for her hospitality, proprietress Elouise Adams Jones, a.k.a. Ouisie, serves an eclectic collection of Southern foods with an excellent wine list to match. High ceilings and fans in the main dining room it evoke the ambiance of a Texas manor house. The adjacent dining porch overlooking the patio and garden, as well as Cooper’s Wine Bin, provide additional dining and entertaining areas. The daily fare encompasses traditional offerings like her well-loved pimento cheese, the shrimp and grits, and the popular Gulf Coast oysters to the favorite Tuesday special Ouisie’s award winning chicken fried steak with corn pudding. A fine plate of grilled Prime beef tenderloin or a brace of quail stuffed with super lump crab meat with Cognac glaze are good examples of the daily specials one might find on the blackboard.

    A bit disappointed. We had heard wonderful things about this restaurant but were not impressed. It may have been due to the volume as we went on Valentine’s Day. A few notes: 1. We chose this restaurant as they did not have a limited or prix fix menu per Open Table and their web site. When we arrived they had an abbreviated menu missing some of their more famous menu items. 2. The lobster rolls were completely tasteless. 3. My wife ordered the ribeye medium rare. It was served very rare with no flavor. Services was also slow as drink orders took about 10 minutes. Hopefully a one off experience for this Houston landmark.

    Three 40 year friends, plus the husband of one, celebrated our February birthdays at Ouisie's by choice as each of us has previously dined there. We were not disappointed from the arrival to our exit, to include parking service, greeting by the front clerk and our table server. The food was delicious as expected and served with a smile. The three birthday ladies were treated with a dessert. It was another memorable occasion and I look forward to future visits, soon! A+ service from start to finish! It's a winner!

    Ordered New Orleans Blackened Red Snapper and couldn't eat it as the sauce was awful. It was not Cajun at all. The seasoning was possibly middle-eastern. One spice they used over-powered everything and just wasn't good. Ruined a delicate piece of fish. My Cajun wife agreed. To their credit, the manager offered to bring me something else. Service was very professional.

    Overall, nice. But not as nice as it was 10 years ago. Food quality is good, but it used to be outstanding. Service, however, was excellent and I will return.

    It is a nice place with a cute ambience, but the ribeye was ok. I ordered medium well, but it came basically well-done. The meat taste was just ok. The service was good, the drinks was good. The live piano performance was nice as well. Overall we can give 7 out of 10. We may try the sea food at the next time to compare. Thanks
