This is easily the best fish in Pittsburgh. All of our food was excellent. Our drinks were also very good and the service was 10/10. Angela was so prompt and knowledgeable and friendly. Can’t wait to come back.

We went to OTARU for my husband’s birthday and it did not disappoint. We ordered two appetizers: jalepeno yellowtail and the chicken gyoza. Both very delicious! My husband ordered a variety of nigiri and I order the OTARU course. All of the fish was fresh, served quickly, and was explained in detail as it arrived to our table. Our server, Angela, was extremely knowledgeable about the menu, gave great suggestions about our meal, and very personable. The view was lovely and overall the service was wonderful. We will definitely be back to visit again!

We had a fabulous time and meal at Otaru. Our waitress Angela was quite attentive and knowledgeable. The food as well as the cocktails were top notch. It was a bit pricey but is to be expected for the quality and view. Highly recommend!

This is arguably the best Japanese restaurant in Pittsburgh. Outstanding food, service, and view. It's not cheap, but good Japanese never is. They even do a 16-course omakase on Thursdays! I can wait to come back and try it.

The food and service was outstanding! The lights in the place were a little too bright though. It felt like an interrogation and was hard to see the city skyline, as the lights created a reflection.

Overall our experience at Otaru was good. Amazing views and a really good server (Angela). Some growing pains were evident for a relatively new restaurant, understaffed, slower than normal service, a few mix ups with food coming out to the wrong table and some items on the menu not available. The drinks are good and certainly the raw fish dishes are their speciality. (We really liked the yellowtail jalepeno app).
