First time customer and loved the food, service and ambiance. We had the guacamole and steak, which was delicious. The ribeye and skirt steak was fantastic. We added the mushroom side for our steaks, which was super delicious. Mashed potatoes and broccolini topped off the meal. Christian was our server and he was very attentive. We celebrated a birthday, which he made very special. Love the decor of restaurant. I will definitely be returning. My only complaint was the music. It was a little loud and at times didn’t feel like it complimented the ambience of the restaurant.

This was our second visit. We started with the queso fundido with Barbacoa $22 plus $8 with meat on top. It was very greasy and lacked flavor so for a $30 appetizer, very disappointed. We wanted to try the beet salad but that was $22 and the soup was also $20 so we did not try them. We did have the picanha steak for an entree which was excellent and my husband also ordered the burger which he said was very flavorful. The entrees all well priced and very good but, in my opinion, if the appetizers, salads and sides don’t come down in price, not sure they will stay open long as restaurants like Ocean 44 offer better food for this price point.

Really disappointed with our experience tonight at Origen. We booked reservations some time ago and had to cancel so we were pumped about coming in today. We were seated quickly which was nice. We didn't get to see much of the restaurant because we were 15 feet away from the bathrooms, in what you'd imagine the kids section at a Dennys, around the corner, and not in the mix. We ordered the Brie and guacamole appetizers. My husband I ordered two different drinks -- both tasted of pure lime juice. One of the drinks was remade and it was much better the second go around. We ordered the Barbacoa Regia, really lacked flavor, our server told us most people order and don't know it's like pulled pork with some fat throughout which was fine but needed some sort of seasoning. Our daughter and I split the Angus Picahna, it was a horrible piece of meat, half of it was inedible, their medium was a short cry of cooked, this dish is supposed to come with a house made chimichurri sauce, it was either missing or lightly done and again not much flavor. For sides we ordered the elote, Mac and cheese, and truffle fries. The fries never showed up... the Elote was cut in to 3 tiny tiny pieces, served without a knife and we had to ask for knives for our steak which in no way could be cut without a knife. AND we got charged $2.00 for extra chips which we did not even order, which I did not mention because I felt like a jerk even mentioning the missing fries (why it's not my fault!). Overall the best thing going here is the bathroom chandelier and their Kleenex dispensing napkins in the restroom. Really underwhelming.

Definetly somewhere we won’t be returning. Had a 530 reservation. The theme of the night was exceptionally slow and negligent service. Spent 2 and a half hours there mostly waiting for service. We got 2 drinks (both overly sweet, think drinking syrup) an appetizer and two entrees. The food was pretty bland. And for the price of everything you shouldn’t have to ask for extra of anything. Things like salsa and guacamole etc should come with enough chips and tortillas to finish them if the table wants. Otherwise it seems cheap. The potatoes my steak came with was raw. My wife’s catch of the day didn’t have half the ingredients in the salad. None of the food came out at the same time and it took over an hour to get our waters filled. There were a ton of tables openly complaining while we were there just because the service was brutal. By 630 they were out of their complementary refried black beans it seemed like as tables being seated were given the platter but just with the tostadas (again, not enough to finish the thing they are there for but I digress). Several dishes and drinks came to both our table and the table next to us that were not for either party which was decently common. A drink runner was lost looking for our table with the second drink 45 min after it was ordered. It’s really sad and unfortunate because we were really looking forward to this place. But you can get exponentially better food, experience and service in the area for the same price. It just was mediocre execution across both the Mexican food side and steak house side. If you want better steak for same cost go to bourbon and bones down the street. If you want better Mexican go to salt or Barrio queen. If you want better bar vibes go to sotol or the blue heron across the street. But save yourself the night. Also interesting note. Don’t ask if you’re there for an occasion (like my wife’s and mine 8th wedding anniversary) and just be like oh cool. Idk seems odd.

I’m starting to wonder what it takes to open a decent steakhouse in Gilbert. We decided to try the new Origen Steakhouse for my wife’s birthday, and unfortunately, it turned out to be a complete disaster. From the moment we were seated, things felt off—we were placed at an oversized table for two, under what felt like a spotlight beaming directly onto my head. Then came the laminated menus with appetizers starting at $25, which set the tone for what was to come. We ordered cocktails: a vodka soda and a Grey Goose on the rocks. To my surprise, I was charged an extra $2 for ice cubes—yes, ice—which had already melted by the time our drinks arrived. For an appetizer, we chose the Brie, which was served with three pieces of rock-hard bread and a cheese that had an unidentifiable, unpleasant taste. For the main course, I opted for the $63 New York steak, expecting high-quality meat. Instead, I was served something reminiscent of a Golden Corral cut, drowning in a pool of gravy. My wife ordered the Catch of the Day—Brazino—which arrived with bones still in it. Our side of mashed potatoes, priced at $15, was essentially a bowl of soup—completely inedible. We politely expressed our concerns to our server (who was the only bright spot in the experience), and she relayed them to the manager. Instead of addressing the issues personally, the manager simply told her to inform us that the food was a matter of “personal preference” and offered nothing to rectify the situation. I can’t find a single redeeming quality about this place. It’s baffling that they’re still in business. Save yourself the disappointment and dine elsewhere.

We loved the ambience and decor…didn’t feel like we were in Gilbert AZ …felt more like Scottsdale All the food was delicious. We had the guacamole, beet salad, Cesar salad, Mexican street corn, mushrooms, strip steak and a tenderloin for our table to share between 4 people. Plenty of food! We couldn’t eat it all. To full to try dessert. Signature Cocktails were different and delicious but a bit more expensive than typical cocktails in Gilbert area.

I liked the vibe inside, and they had an amazing musical group playing on the patio. The guacamole and chips were delicious; however, the steak we ordered could have used a sauce or some additional flavor added. The drinks were OK, but tried to be a little too creative.
