Slower paced being early morning on a weekend. Food was well prepared and tasty. Prices were reasonable for downtown DC.

Fried chicken was fantastic. Texture and flavor were dialed. We were visiting Frederick from El Paso TX and Opaline was recommended by several locals. It didn't disappoint.

I never write reviews. This is the first one. Abysmal experience. $10 bread basket for four awful store bought Costco scraps of bread. Took 20 minutes to come out at which point the waitress informed us they were “warming the bread.” I don’t have words for how stupid this sounds. The menu online is not the menu they have so forget planning ahead. I chose to go here for items that magically weren’t available in real life. Disgusting mussels with pathetically smalll meat, maybe *maybe* 20 mussels. Their toasted baguettes had some sort of lard on them that was horrid. The steak was nothing but gristle, the desserts (lemon and pineapple upside down cake was basically a fruit cake from Walmart, tiramisu drier than a desert) were disgusting. Unless you love wasting money, do yourself a favor and use this restaurant to laugh at when you walk by and avoid walking through the doors.

The staff here went well above and beyond. We surprised them with a larger than expected party and they were gracious and accommodating of all of us. Thank you! Great experience!

The waitress was extremely slow and only came to our table willingly when we first sat down. We kept trying to flag the waitress down periodically for drinks and to order food, but she kept telling us “one minute, I’ll be right there” but would never come. She not only did this to our table, but she did it to every other table. The only way for us to physically order anything was to go inside and order at the bar because the waitress wouldn’t do anything.

This was my second time at Opaline and it was still amazing! The service was fabulous and the food was exquisite. The teas are all delicious but the organic turmeric and peach tea is my favorite. Definitely recommend!

The times on OpenTable are wrong. We showed up for the confirmed reservation and the staff told us they weren't open and didn't offer any sort of solution.
