Founded by sibling duo Chef Philip Pretty and Lauren Pretty, Olive & Rose is a culinary destination born from their shared passion for exceptional food and genuine hospitality. We'v reimagined the dining experience as a neo-bistro, where classic French techniques with a twist meet vibrant flavors that are unmistakably Californian. Each dish tells a story of flavor, texture, and creativity—a reflection of Chef Philip Pretty’s entire culinary career.
From sourcing local, seasonal ingredients to minimizing food waste and reducing our environmental footprint, we’re proud to continue the sustainable dining legacy of our sister restaurant, Heritage, by incorporating green certified and green Michelin star practices into our operations.

Our dining area is a covered patio, please dress accordingly.

We are reservation only, please call if you have any difficulty booking online. We look forward to hosting you!

Easily one of the best places to have a fine dining experience without the exorbitant costs. The service absolutely blew my mind away. The food was out of this world and the staff was very very courteous and humble. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends and family!

Food was delicious as expected but didn’t know the restaurant was not fully enclosed… so for a late November evening, it was very uncomfortable.

The food was amazing. Currently there is no liquor license and it’s not very clear on the website which is a slight bummer. The atmosphere was a little strange, basically outdoors with stone walls. It was chilly and there was no heat. Be prepared to be dressed for outside while you are eating.

Every dish was prepared perfectly, the creativity never ceases to amaze me. We had the octopus, the endive salad, the rib cap and frites, the toasted marshmallow ice cream (which is subtle and wonderful), and the tarte tatin. I’m so happy there is a restaurant like this in Long Beach. I’m telling all my friends.

Everything we ate was exceptional and delicious. The service was brisk and attentive. We were not “rushed” but the meal could have progressed a bit slower. The decor was pleasant with a scandi vibe. The seat height of the bench was significantly lower than the seat across the table, so it was a bit awkward that the two of us were sitting at different heights. We were offered a “caviar bump” at the onset of the meal without being told the price; when the bill came and two bites of caviar was $50, we thought, the waiter should have informed us of the price at the time of the suggestion. The non-alcoholic wine was meh and we should have brought our own wine and paid the corkage fee. My dining partner noticed the floor was dirty, which is really not ok at a restaurant where dinner for two without alcohol or dessert was $250. All that said, we would go back since it’s basically a neighborhood restaurant for us.

Food was amazing…but one of the walls was just screen and it was quite chilly making it hard to relax and enjoy. The bathroom was part of the motel and frequently occupied. I also didn’t realize all drinks were N/A which is on me but it didn’t feel as celebratory…and was harder to keep warm!

We had dinner at Olive and Rose. The food was beyond fantastic the Aged Rib Cap was like butter in your mouth. The Chicken with Foraged Mushrooms & Jus was cooked to perfection. The Burnt Marshmallow Ice Cream with Honeycomb Brittle was an interesting desert but we loved it! The only very mild suggestion would be we hope that they add ice tea to the drink menu. We'll definitely be back and recommend to friends and family.

We went for dinner for our first time Friday at 8p. The building has been completely updated and the building is actually a Sonder, which is kind of a tech forward upgrade to old motels. You can see the lobby on the 3rd st side of the building. Whole place looks updated and refreshed. The restaurant actually sits where the old carport was -they filled it in to create the dining room with its intimate and retro feel. I had studied the menu before arriving so we knew exactly what we were going to order: Bread and cultured butter (and we added the 3 cheese plate to this). 4 big pieces of fresh bread from hey brother baker and I believe the cheese is from Oh La Vache - both local long beach places. Endive salad with dates & Humboldt fog - the most surprising dish of the night! Enough to share for 2 people and wow, was it good. Probably the most unique dish I've had all year. I got the pork with grilled lettuce and he got the aged rib cap with frites au poivre. I read the fries that come with the rib cap were "like McDonald's fries but better" and they weren't kidding! Both were cooked perfectly. Dessert was the burnt marshmallow ice cream with honeycomb. Outstanding. Wish all ice cream had crunchy things like honeycomb in it. Side note: they do not yet have their liquor license but was told they should by 11.21. And no, you can't bring your own wine until then. Small detail which is understandable for a new business. I heard that their cocktail menu is already set and ready to go once their license comes through. Also, they had 2 options for seating for the reso: standard or "chefs counter". We prefer an actual table so we chose the standard and glad we did. The chefs counter is in the actual kitchen, separate from the dining room and I believe there were 4-6 seats, like a diner would have. Definitely recommend you check this place out. Dinner for 2 with no alcohol was $187, so it is on the pricier side but another great option for a date night. What

Very solid cooking. The kitchen really understands the importance of sauce and stock. Friendly service. The refreshing diced cucumber (like very small balls) and the acidity from chopped red grapes provide a perfect counter-balance with the fatty amberjack. The juiciest endive salad I ever had and the date lends a delightful sweetness to counter the natural bitterness of the chicory while the humbolt fog provides some tanginess. Best roast chicken I had in years - the jus was just fantastic. They will have their liquor license in about a week and full wine and cocktail services should be available soon. The only drawback is the acoustic - low ceiling and not enough soft fabric to absorb the noise. But I’ll return to try different dishes next time and sit at the cozy kitchen counter.
