   Usually enjoy going to Oheka Restaurant. Go there at least six times a year. I was extremely disappointed today. After driving an hour and forty-five minutes to get there (from Staten Island) I don't expect to be seated by the kitchen where I can see the food preparation. It was also looking out to the parking lot. I spoke to the hostess and requested another table. I was told that they were all reserved for four people (my party was only 2). I asked for the Charlie Chaplin room, but it was reserved for a party. They were able to change us to another table for two overlooking the parking lot, but then I saw two people being seated at one of the tables I had asked for that they said was reserved for 4 people (with a view of the garden, not the parking lot). When those people left another party of 2 were seated there. I brought this to our waiter's attention. He was very nice and said when I make the reservation next time, to call the restaurant directly and request the table with the view I wanted. I made my reservation with Open Table (which popped up when I went to the Restaurant website). When you pay $300 for lunch, it would be nice to get the experience you want and be accommodated accordingly. We were given a 10% discount on our next visit, but it couldn't be used on this visit. I guess they thought that this was adequate compensation for the inconvenience. I disagree. Food and service were good.

   Dining in a castle is always a delight. The food is delicious, the ambience is incomparable, the service is excellent and warm. Definitely my go to spot.

   The castle is absolutely beautiful. Would be great if the food would match up to the surroundings. The food is really just not good. At all. Go for a drink to enjoy the bar and castle, don’t go to dinner unless the food becomes markedly better.

   Disappointing the potential this place has. First impressions is the dining room was frustratingly loud with forced live music. In general, the food was always missing something. The Mediterranean app plate ($27) was about 10 pieces of store bought pita bread, with 4 substandard dips that also taste store bought. No veggies, nothing unique. The shrimp cocktail ($27) also wasn’t anything special, at that price point they should wow me. The cocktail sauce was way too sweet. Entrees: The seabass was great — however it was clear that the decorative plating was premade as the squash slices and sauce were dried out and stuck to the plate (or it was left under the heat lamps too long). Also, at a $55-65 price point the lemon wedge should be deseeded or at least have a lemon net. The lamb was also great, but again something off. The sauce had fresh blueberries in it — which was odd but not offensive. Service was fine, but again something off. At one point, I jumped from me seat because a worker broke down a table behind us, slamming it on the side and folding up the legs. It was clearly towards the end of the night and they were already breaking down the tables. For a $320 dinner for 2, I felt like we paid more for the fact that we were in a castle and less from a quality, thoughtfulness, and service perspective. The more frustrating part is they have all the elements to make this a really fantastic experience, but may have gotten comfortable over the years that the fine details don’t really matter.

   Eggs over easy were undercooked, steak and scrambled eggs was underseasoned, salmon was not evenly cooked, zucchini fritters overcooked. Chicken and waffles were excellent, as was mac-n-cheese. Desert was phenomenal. Over all it would have been an excellent experience if someone paid more attention to actual food served.

    We started with the Crab Cake and shared (2 people). For my main dish I had the Risotto and it was very good. For desert I had the brownie with Reese’s pieces a la mode, also very good. Try a Hot Totty for the first time and it did not disappoint.
