We had a fantastic experience. From start to finish. They were able to accommodate a gluten free request and a shellfish allergy with no problems. Subs were available. The smoked beet salad was well balanced, salmon was delectable, but let's talk more about the chocolate mousse! If I could explain it, I would. Just try it.

The food was so delicious that all four of us were a bit flabbergasted. We ordered many sides and every one was incredible. The devil eggs the crab beignets and the poached prawns were beyond fabulous. Cannot say enough.

Fantastic experience at Normandie. Although the menu is small, the selections are well chosen and balanced to give a good variety in choices. Each and every item was spot on. The duck confit, the steak, and the salmon were all perfectly prepared and presented, and delicious. Also, the accompaniments to the duck confit were very imaginative, different, and really tasty. Oysters were fantastic, and even the cheese board was a level above what one usually sees, again, very high quality. The wine list is on the small side, but good variety and well priced, particularly in comparison the obscene markups at most places in America (only in America is it accepted that wine should be offensively marked up, but not here). Service was attentive but not intrusive, and very welcoming and friendly. Highly recommended.

I did not think there was value in my entree. It was a very small portion of- gnocchi dish, it was the most expensive thing on the menu. Bread was over toasted and for $8, very not worth it. Butter lettuce was ok, a bit tasteless and over dressed. Wine was good. Will not return or recommend.

The food and the service were really excellent. We highly recommend this restaurant for those reasons. However, the music was loud enough that everybody needed to talk extra loud, which made the overall sound level really high, and I had to talk very loudly with my partner at my table just for her to be heard and me to hear her. This is totally unnecessary

The food was disappointing. I had the bouillabaisse and it was just a broth with some shellfish and the taste was off. I love bouillabaisse and was excited about it until I tasted it.

The service was very good, but the food was just ok. The Star was the crab beignets. Albacore and Hamachi was very avg and the gnocchi with seafood was ok as well, but was pricey.

Nice atmosphere. Knowledgeable wait staff. Varied and enticing menu options. Desserts were disappointing. Still, would go again. A Portland icon.

The food at Normandie was above what I was expecting. It was a tad bit on the pricier side but I get what they were trying to do. The veg outshined the proteins for me. We had the steak frites which was less than stellar. For $40 it was maybe 5 oz. It was a little tough and untrimmed making it a chore to eat because of the gristle. The smoked beets we had were great though. They had just enough smoke to make it interesting without feeling over wrought. All the apps we had were very nice and the dozen oysters we got were fresh and very sweet. I would come here again, the service was great and the atmosphere had an upscale, but friendly vibe.
