It was hit or miss. Some of the food was really good, some was only ok. The staff were really accommodating, letting us sit early due to the bad weather. Years ago, when Nobu first opened, we sat at the rooftop. we had the tacos and I remember them being very good. Tonight, I had the crab, the tuna, and the steak, all of which were too sweet and could have used a jalapeño. The wings and the new style scallop sashimi were very good. I didn’t know this was possible, but I think the edamame was over-steamed. It was really mushy. My husband said the freshwater eel was excellent, but he wishes they would have torched the top a little. All in all, I think it was good, uneven, but not great

Had reservations for brunch, was seated 30min late. The two ladies at the front were not friendly, very indifferent. Ordered drinks took a very long time to arrive. The meat at the carving station was dry and tough.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The food was fantastic. Notable items: yellow tail and jalapeño, the oyster trio was good but tiny, the black cod was tasty, and the crispy rice and spicy tuna was amazing.

The variety was seriously lacking—not much to choose from! The breakfast sandwich was unbelievably salty, to the point where it felt like biting into a brick of salt. The seasoning across the board was inconsistent—some dishes were over-seasoned, while others were completely bland. To make matters worse, all the hot food was cold. No bacon, pork belly, or standalone sausage options (which could be an issue for those with allergies). The sushi selection was minimal—just three rolls (salmon, tuna, and yellowtail). A couple of salads, some sashimi, a carving station with dry meat, and no omelet station or egg options except on that awful breakfast sandwich. The dessert station was the only highlight, but even that was underwhelming when it came to celebrating a birthday. They offered just two small pieces of mochi. I had informed the hostess about the birthday, yet the waitress—who was barely attentive—was never told. As a foodie and a brunch lover, I expected way more for $280 for three people (which included just one drink each). The only reason this gets one star is for the ambiance. Nobu should stick to dinner—brunch is definitely not their strong suit. With so many great restaurants in Chicago, there’s no reason to come back or recommend this one.

The Chicago omakase was delightful, and sitting at the sushi bar was the best way to experience it. My chef was very kind and explained every dish, and provided commentary on other dishes he was making. Everything was delicious and well presented. Service was quick and well executed. Truly a lovely experience as a solo traveler.
