This was the worst birthday experience I’ve ever had. It took over an hour just to place our order, and when the food and drinks finally arrived, many of them were wrong. To make matters worse, we were handed our checks before we even had cake. The staff started cleaning the restaurant while we were still eating—someone even mopped the floor without putting up a caution sign, causing a member of our group to slip and fall. The entire experience was unacceptable and disappointing. I would not recommend this place.

It was my husband’s 50th birthday on Monday. I am planning a huge party for him Saturday and didn’t even think about his actual birth day, so when he said ‘um, dinner?’ I said pick anywhere (because I plan epic parties and everything else takes a backseat) and Nakama was the pick. Our family of four (two teens) haven’t been here since before the pandemic, and upon entry we noticed they had made huge changes to the interior - open and updated. We later learned they were starting the remodel when covid hit, so it worked out they had all of that time. As we were sat (with the new open concept) we saw that the restaurant was utterly empty. The lone table was leaving when we arrived, and during our stay four people total were in the bar area. The greeter and our server were friendly, and our poor chef had ZERO to work off of conversationally. It was just us. We live together. We aren’t terribly interesting. Yet, he was plucking strings of convo out of thin air and it truly was appreciated. The only complaint was that my son and I drink tea, and they have none. How is it possible that a restaurant of this cuisine wouldn’t have a staple like tea?!? Otherwise, its good teppanyaki (though I prefer way more vegetables) my scallops were huge and cooked with a nice sear. My husband and sons got steak and said it was very good as well. Thank you for the enjoyable evening!

Restaurant was cool. Neighborhood was really cool. Want to come back and explore when not so cold. Restaurant and staff are welcoming. Bartender was nice. Just had a lot going on, so didn’t interact much. Food was good. Would have eaten more, but service was slow. Went down the street for dessert and more drinks.

To be honest. It was the only place that I could get a reservation for six in at the last minute. They did accommodate us well. When I did arrive, the place does have an old musty smell. It was virtually empty with only a few tables seated on a Saturday night at 7 PM. The waiter that took our order was a tentative. Our chef was very good as well. Unfortunately, I left there, and I was still hungry after getting the imperial twin New York strip steaks. in a pinch again, I surely would go. But it would not be my first choice.

The food was great. Our service was even better. The chef did an amazing job with our food, and the server made sure our daughter with food allergies had a safe meal. Thank you for making this birthday celebration a happy one!

food was good our waitress was incredible. i came here for my birthday to have the hibachi experience, but our cook just cooked said thank you and left. while another table close to us got the fire and a birthday celebration. when i usually go to hibachi it’s so fun and upbeat and it just wasn’t at all what i was expecting. the waitress sang happy birthday to me and made it so much better. it was also really really hot in there.

Our hibachi chef, Tom was wonderful! He made the night so fun and was easy to talk to. Service otherwise was okay, it seemed like they were short staffed but we had a great meal overall.
