This Cajun soul food spot located in a mini-mall on East 82nd Avenue has earned its legion of superfans. The restaurant is known for its popular seafood boils, po’boys, and fried or blackened seafood (which the restaurant will gladly smother in étouffée sauce); however, the restaurant’s crawfish étouffée —crawfish tail meat swimming in a buttery sauce of onions, peppers, celery, and garlic — is the people’s favorite.

Cajun to "Caj-uck". Portland still does not have a premier or even mediocre Cajun restaurant. From soggy appetizers to bland or burnt mains, this is one restaurant offering that New Orleans style food but delivering a "Yankee" performance. Salt and Pepper Calamari were fried beautifully but were then smothered with sauteed onions and jalapenos. No better way to ruin a nice crispy dish than to put something wet on top of it. The Chicken and Sausage Jambalaya played a game of cat and mouse with flavor. The rice, chicken and sausage had no flavor or seasoning. If you were fortunate enough to get a little of the sparce sauce, then you might get your tastebuds a little interested. The Crawfish Etouffee looked and tasted as if someone left the pot on the stove just a little too long. The rouge was burnt, the rice overcooked and the crawfish underwhelming. I grew bigger Sea Monkeys at home with a starter kit from Amazon. Cornbread is a staple in any southern restaurant. The cornbread that accompanied out dishes was like saw dust and tasted similarly. Cajun flavor is based upon building layer upon layer of taste sensations, something lacking in the decor and the food. In fact, if you want layer upon layer, just look at the filth in the bathroom, on the floor and I suspect elsewhere. Cajun or worth it this restaurant is not. If you want to pay this much, just go to New Orleans.

I’ve been dying to try this place for 3 years. Unfortunately, it didn’t live up to my expectations or all of the other reviews that I’ve read, which was disheartening since we made the 50 minute drive across town. Pros: wonderful server/bartender, tasty frog legs, and good drinks. Cons: We were there at 3:30pm on a Friday and for whatever reason, they didn’t have any Crawfish Étouffée, which was the dish that I had wanted for the last 3 years. So, I was immediately thrown for a loop. The shrimp basket that I had instead was just ok. Overall, we had 3 entrees and 4 drinks, and it came out to $125, so I’m just not sure the value was there, at least with the items we ordered.

They are so generous with their servings. The fried green tomatoes remind me of home.

The service staff here was great, unfortunately the food was not. I was very disappointed, because I had wanted to try this place for years based on the great reviews. I ordered crawfish etoufee and was excited to, because I love it and it is hard to find! The crawfish, (although a generous helping of it was included in the dish) didn't taste fresh. The sauce was quite bland. The worst part, was that the side of white rice was very dried out, like it had been sitting out for quite sometime. I wanted to love the food here, but it sadly fell far from the mark.

Dinner was mostly good but the $44.99 crab boil was not a great value. Service was fine but super casual.

Food is amazing and what keeps me coming back. But everytime i have ever been the waitress has always forgotten something on my order and does not check in tables. If you need something it’s an extremely long wait. They would see so many more people in a night if the waitresses attended to the tables. They are always behind the bar talking. This night two tables walked out because they were not seen for a very long time then the waitresses were laughing about it.
