   Extremely expensive for food that was good not great. Cocktails were almost $30 each. Not worth the cost at all.

   Daniel was our server - we arrived a little before closing and he had some quick recommendations that helped us get a good balance of food to try. Drinks are delicious, great presentation ! We shared the Chile Colorado (it is a good protein dish to share) the Ay carbon chicken and the yellowtail ceviche. Overall , food was well seasoned , and very tasty. I’ll be back!

   We started with the oysters, which were tiny & flavorless. Then had the Caesar, taquitos, bone marrow & one other appetizer, which I have obviously forgotten. Nothing was timed as everything arrived at once & there was no room at the table. We asked about more room & were told that everything was booked as we sat next to empty tables the entire meal. Finally our steak came and was overcooked & overpriced. We ate less than 1/2 of it and gave up. Not an enjoyable experience at all & definitely not worth going.

   This restaurant is a perfect blend of elegance and authentic Mexican flavors. The ambiance is chic yet warm, and the service is impeccable.    Very trendy ambience. Sweet potatoes taquitos were a highlight. Port was very good not great. We will go again

   I’m a big fan of Chef Wes, the Angry Egret Cafe was my favorite restaurant in all of L.A. until it unfortunately closed. The menu there was constantly taking risks, so much so it seemed more like an experience rather than just a restaurant. I was very happy to hear that MXO was the next project coming up, so I had high hopes for it. It was, however, just a restaurant. It was not a bad experience by any means, but it was just an ordinary steakhouse. The service was great and the food was made really well, but it wasn’t anything out of the norm. There’s plenty of steakhouses you can go to in L.A. for better value. Everyone in the restaurant was stacked on top of each other making it a little claustrophobic, and the scene there was uppity and inauthentic. If I wasn’t a huge fan of the previous restaurant from Chef Wes, I’d probably be more lenient in my review, but I came to this restaurant with my hopes set high. On the plus side, you might see someone famous there, if that’s what you’re looking for.

    We came to MXO to celebrate a friend’s birthday, and had a wonderful time! The restaurant is gorgeous inside and out, starting with a glass walk above cactuses to enter the restaurant. As you come in, you are treated to a beautiful modern interior with amazing chandeliers. The food and the service was great, everything we tried was really good. Carne asada was amazing! Highly recommend!
