    I am always pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food at Mr Wabi. While the vibe is more like a "cheap and cheerful" Asian restaurant, the food is actually at a level way above that. There is a great selection of bao buns which got us started, along with excellent prawn toasts - which have a thick layer of real prawns on top. We then had the soft shell crab in a Singapore style curry sauce - but not too sweet - and the "sweet and sour" chicken served in half a pineapple - on the menu as Chef Danny's Pineapple Chicken. This was one of the highlights - not what you quite expected in that the sauce was nothing like your take-away Chinese - but had a lively balance of flavours and there was not too much of it - nothing gluggy or cloying, just a nice mix of chilli, garlic, pineapple and other Asian flavours. The Char Siu and Prawn Fried Rice is also a highlight - lots of pork and big prawns in a smoky concoction of jasmine rice. It's surely one of the best fried rices in Brisbane - as good if not better than at places that are far more expensive. Service was friendly efficient, under the genial eye of the owner who is always around to say hello

    The staff were helpful in assisting me and guided me to the perfect lunch for one. I generally would t have a cocktail for lunch but fell in love with the blood flower. Very creative. This went well with my chicken dish in the bento section of the menu. Flavours were amazing.

    The food was amazing! So delicious and the presentation was lovely. As others have said it is a bit loud but we were at a quieter table near the entrance. I highly recommend dining here!

    For $65 a head for lunch. I was expecting amazing things, considering the other local options we had. The food was cooked well, just didn’t get the wow factor unfortunately. In hindsight we should have purchased straight from the menu and shared our dishes as we would have had more choice and been cheaper. Was lovely and quiet, and food was quick to be served.
