   My daughter and I attended the Nutcracker so made a 29:00 pm reservation. Their kitchen closes at 10:30 so I knew we were cutting it kind of close. It was no problem at all. The waitstaff was friendly and efficient. The food was delicious. My daughter order chicken Marsala which she loved. I ordered mushroom pot pie which was creamy and delicious. We shared caviar deviled eggs. There were two and so yummy.

   Everything at Monarch and Lion was literally perfect. The food is out of this world, and the service is even better.

   I’d been to Monarch & Lion once before, for dinner, and we were seated at a less than desirable upstairs table plunged in darkness. But the food was excellent. On this visit, at lunch time, we were one of only two tables occupied and while the server wasn’t overly friendly, the food was truly delicious. I’ll be back!

   British cuisine prepared with a touch of subtlety. Truffle mushroom pot pie was deceptively light, and yummy. Traditional fish and chips was prepared well. Date Sticky Toffee was the perfect finish. Service was attentive and friendly.

   I made a reservation for two people for Thanksgiving a few weeks ago. The ambiance in the downstairs was quite lovely with bookshelves and a fireplace and a Christmas tree. Unfortunately, we were seated at one of the worst seats in the house upstairs next to the waiters station, and where I had a view of a bunch of exit signs and a room with some restaurant supplies. I figured we were put there because it was a holiday, and they had a lot of larger parties booked downstairs, so I was quite disappointed when I was leaving and saw that there were still a bunch of empty small tables downstairs. I got the roast dinner and my companion got the fish and chips. The roast was very good, the sides were OK, and the mashed potatoes were cold. Maybe they are supposed to be that way because when I told the server they were cold when they came out, he only said "OK." The fish was OK and the fries were good. They had several teas on the menu, but said they had no way to serve it, so we didn't get any. Out bill was $100 for just those two entrees plus tax and tip. No appetizers, dessert, or drinks other than tap water. The restaurant is fine if you are nearby and want something to eat, but not worth a special trip. Also, it is much more pleasant if you sit downstairs, so perhaps find another restaurant if they only offer you upstairs tables. I recommend getting something smaller/cheaper on the menu.

   It was fine. The food was cold and one guests puff pastry was pretty raw. Drinks were very good. Props to the bartender. We saw the manager (she was wonderful) more than we saw the server.

   Terrible experience. I knew we were in trouble when we were seated all the way in back in a completely empty area in the restaurant. Waited 20 minutes after being seated for anyone to attend to our table. Hostess came by the table and told our party “we only have one server on duty right now she will be with you whenever when can”. Really? We waited 5 minutes more and got up and left. Really crap experience and I can't believe there were no managers on staff. Couldn't tell you how the food was, all we got was water. We ended up leaving, going to Robert's for pizza, which was a MUCH better choice. They actually had people working and the service was fantastic even though the place was packed to the gills.
