Four key pieces separate us from a traditional steakhouse.

1) We only serve ranch specific Alberta Beef. That means we don’t serve beef from anywhere else on the planet. We know our farmers and ranchers personally and respect the hard work they put into produce our beef. We like our beef to be, hormone & antibiotic free and pasture raised. Happy cattle make for better steaks.

2) We are one of just a handful of steakhouses in Canada that serves, Grass-fed, Grain-fed, Wet-aged, Dry-aged and Wagyu beef 365 days a year. Our beef is always fresh never frozen.

3) We use an 1800o Infrared Grill to cook your steaks. Our grill stays at very consistent high heat versus a traditional open flame grill. The high heat creates a flavourful crust on outside of the steak and leaves a juicy centre.

4) Our décor is warm and modern. The tradition has always been dark wood, leathers and a muted palate for a steakhouse. We broke the mold and decided to add hand selected music that reflects us!

    Wagyu new years menu was phenomenal and loved the wine pairing. Excellent vibes in the room and loved the music they were playing. Would do it over again in a second.

    Enjoyed a beautiful New Years Eve dinner at Stephen’s Avenue, I had a great Hokkaido Scallops dish which I really loved. For an appetizer we had a very delicious Seafood Roll filled with lobster and shrimp, literally finger licking great! My husband thoroughly enjoyed the 14 oz Modern Benchmark - Prime Ribeye. We finished off with a chocolate dessert, and Italian Flourless Chocolate Torte, so good with a great coffee. All in all a great way to finish off 2024. Can’t wait to go back!!

    We went to dinner for New Year’s Eve, had not been before and the waitress made our experience extremely pleasant and inviting and the food was great as well.

    Even when we weren’t happy with a dish the manager stepped in asked us what was up and was happy to remove the item from our bill. Service was great and the rest of our food was amazing. I always love going to Modern

    Peter gave exceptional service. He noticed that our table was in a noisy location and suggested moving us to a quieter spot. He was friendly and knowledgeable and went out of his way to help us celebrate our anniversary.

    We had the best experience at Modern Steak. The best Manhattan's we've ever had and the meal was fantastic! Delicious, grilled to perfection steaks (filet & rib eye) and sides (mashed potato, mushrooms, white bean), wine and complimentary port at the end of our meal. We are from Ontario but will be back when we visit Calgary again!

    The Food @ Modern Steak on Stephen Avenue is really good, everything is flavourful and flavoured well. Even the Caesar Salad was perfectly balanced in flavours. We went with a group of 4 and got the Modern Steak Shareable Platter with nearly 40oz of Steak, the Flat Iron and Filet were incredible. If you have the money to splash you might find Modern too boring for you, but if you aren’t quite as fortunate in life and have to pick and choose nights out, I would recommend Modern Steak and you shouldn’t be disappointed. Once in a lifetime experience for some and definitely worth it for that alone.
