Milicia is a small and intimate trattoria tucked away in the centre of Ulverstone. The interior has been specifically designed to create warmth and the feeling of being abroad with classic rendered walls, terazzo bench tops and handmade timber tables. Street dining is also available should you chose to soak up the atmosphere of the town.

Milicia presents and small yet delectable menu with everything from slow fermented pizzaā€™s to rustically plated handmade pasta. All made in-house using traditional family recipes giving diners an opportunity to indulge in traditional Italian food with a specific selection of local wines and beers to match.     I visited previously and had a lovely time however the service tonight was less than great and the food wasnā€™t anything special either - especially given the costs of the meals. We asked for table water twice and didnā€™t receive any before having to ask for a third time. After our initial drink order the waitress asked if we were ready to place our food order and I said ā€œyes pleaseā€ to which I donā€™t think she heard me as she just walked off and didnā€™t return until our drinks were ready. My young children were very kindly catered to with a plain pepperoni pizza however the sauce was far too spicy for them to eat it so it sat mostly untouched until the adults had some - it would have been handy to know the sauce was hot as we would have opted for something else for them. We had to go up to the bar to ask for more drinks as no one was servicing our table or checking in with us. I had to ā€œflagā€ a waitress down to clear our plates and order dessert - which was okay but it would have been nice if we had someone check in with our table instead. Just seemed like a shame when the first time I visited was such an outstanding experience. The food was okay but only one of the adults we dined with raved about their dinner which was a shame. I donā€™t think Iā€™ll come back unfortunately.

    Great food and great service! Only let down is the acoustics, when thereā€™s a full house itā€™s extremely loud otherwise perfect!

    Great food, lovely and helpful staff but way too noisy ā€¦ hard to have a conversation with the other personā€¦ add in the music and it was all too much. If you are going for a romantic setting, this isnā€™t it but delicious food made up for it
