   The menu is interesting and curated to be well above common Mexican restaurants. Clearly designed for sharing and tasting a variety of things. Portions are small and refined. Service was professional.

   Very good meal but was surprised that the bar area reservation we made for lunch meant that the restaurant was only serving in the bar area. The main dining room was closed.

   Visiting San Antonio for the first time we stumbled across this gem. If you love Mexican food and are curious this is the place for you!! The 6 of us had an AMAZING meal! Great drinks, food and service…10’s for all 3. RJ the manager was great and our server Liv was very attentive. Best margarita that I’ve ever had!

   So disappointing! I had read and heard great things about Mezquite, especially in Texas Monthly, and was genuinely excited to share the experience with friends. Unfortunately, it fell far short of expectations. The Wagyu was so tough it was inedible. The tortillas were raw and gummy. Our server described the portions as “shareable”… I guess that meant everyone gets a teaspoon. Really unfortunate. We were hoping for something special, but this just wasn’t.

   Very unique coursing style and flavor profiles. Exclusive ambiance, and hidden gem type of an experience. Could do a better job of setting expectations and executing services, plus product knowledge of flavor profiles would help reflect a more confident delivery. Overall great concept that I would love to see continue to elevate to its full potential, I can tell the owner cares by the lengths he goes to make right any shortcomings. I highly recommend Mezquite as an exquisite date night, or business casual event.

    This was my 3rd time to dine at Mezquite and each time it’s been a bit worse and this time it was frankly just bad. I’m sad as it’s such a great space and concept but the food and service just isn’t hitting the mark at all. Only saving grace as drinks were good. The hostess was not friendly but our server was nice. The tuna appetizer was way over sauced and salty and very onion heavy. The queso with chorizo was okay but also too salty. The entree was bad, overcooked and dry chicken and mine had hair in it. Every side is covered in raw onion and again, the rice was way too salty. We won’t be back and just hope the next restaurant that goes in this space will serve much better food.
