My husband and I picked Maynard’s for a romantic dinner out while on vacay. We enjoyed ourselves and would go again simply for the location and ambience - plus there is parking. Beautiful restaurant in the old train depot where you get to watch the trains pass - added bonus. Our cocktails were good and so was the mixed green salad we shared. Areas for improvement: while my husbands steak was cooked the way he ordered it (medium rare) it needed seasoning. My risotto was okay but I wished they would have offered fresh cracked pepper. Our waitress was attentive but needs to use her “outside voice” - we could barely hear a word she said. Overall a pleasant experience.

The ambience is nice and the staff are attentive and pleasant, but nothing more than one would or should expect from an establishment in this price range. We were a bit disappointed by the entree menu, but the starters menu had some interesting variety. The by-the-glass wine list is adequate, but a bit on the pricey side. My partner is a fan of reds, and I am a white wine drinker, and neither of us could possibly consume a bottle of wine on our own - we are not huge consumers of alcohol - so we resorted to vino by the glass. In the future, we may have cocktails instead of wine, as they do have some interesting sounding cocktails on the menu. All in all, we felt that the venue was lovely and we would certainly return for a light dinner of starters and maybe a glass of wine outdoors when the weather warms up. So - very nice, absolutely, but not extraordinary.

Our first time at Maynards. The location is wonderful located in the old train station. We were seated promptly and service was great. Not rushed but very attentive. We had the mussels, milk bread, and scallops. The potions were perfect and not so large you have to split or take some home. All and all a great place for dinner.

We thouroughly enjoyed our dinner at Maynards - the cocktails were delicious, the food was cooked to perfection and the paired wine was well chosen for us. Only slight minus was the dessert - while it was absolutley delicious, it was a little difficult to eat. Mousse and gellee between layers of ganache and chocolate bark. It would have been easier to eat on a plate than a deep bowl, and the structure of it would have shown better too.

Excellent as usual. Steak tartare was great, but should come with toast not potato chips.

Where else can you watch a passenger train go by while dining at what could be a 5 star restaurant. The experience takes one back to the 1940’s elegant train travel, dining in an elegant restaurant while waiting for you train to far way destinations. White table cloths, low lighting, well dressed wait staff who serve you beautifully plated food. Reservations are a must.

The service was excellent. The food was so so. Disappointed with the little house taster before our starter. It was old, tasted like it was made the day before. It was a cheese on puff pastry, I think. It was so chewy. We had foie gras for the starter, excellent but the thick piece of pumpkin bread dominated too much. A brioche bread would have been better. The Divers scallops were the best I ever had. The pork belly was dry and not good. Service was outstanding. Good cocktails. Quiet and nice to see the trains traveling by while we ate.

Disappointed. Went to celebrate a special occasion, we were seated at the back of the restaurant with a lot of empty spots elsewhere , and on top of that they decided to sit a family with loud kids next to us… The food was mediocre and not worth the money. Skipped dessert, left early due to the unenjoyable atmosphere.
