   Absolutely thrilled with this dining experience. All dishes were outstanding, as was the service. I would highly recommend the mushroom bruschetta, the chateaubriand with confit potatoes and brussels sprouts as sides. Fantastic! Cocktails and wine list are also noteworthy. There is some real depth and imagination to both the drink menu and the wine options. I mentioned the service already, but I would be remiss not to particularly call out our server, Rene, who was a delight and the epitome of what fine dining table service should be. Well done Maxwell's!

   This was the first sub-par experience at Maxwell's. Since a renovation and menu update a couple of years ago, this restaurant has been an exciting go-to prior to shows at the Fredericton Playhouse. My husband and I have had consistently excellent experiences on both food and service. This time we were very very disappointed. First, I requested a specific table, which we were not given and which remained empty during our entire meal (maybe there was an error and the second table was being held for us?) I didn't say anything at first, since it was all set with cutlery, etc. and I though maybe someone else asked for it prior to me, which I would have understood. The food service was very slow - we ordered and waited approximately 50 minutes to receive any food. The waiter was pleasant and we did receive drinks promptly. The items did not arrive as described on the menu. It is set up to choose your side, with elaborate descriptions. I ordered the green beans - described as prepared "Almondine" - yet there was nary an almond in sight and they were very bland. It I had known, I would have chosen a different side. My husband's dessert said it came with "macerated cherries", yet there were no cherries - just a jumble of other fruits on top. As the experience was quite "blah" - we will be going elsewhere next time before the theatre. Very sad that Maxwell's has already started slipping downward. We never used to eat at the old iteration of this hotel restaurant as it was at this lower level and there are many other superior choices. As my husband lamented - "very hotel" dining. Sad.

   I had an amazing experience at Maxwell’s Steak & Seafood. I went there for my wedding anniversary and I couldn’t choose a better place to celebrate. Service was outstanding, with a cozy ambience, great drinks and food. I don’t have much wine knowledge, but our server helped us giving some recommendations to pair with the food, and we ended up discovering an incredible tasty wine. Our meals were perfectly cooked, we had the scallops with pork belly, and the steak chateaubriand. Sauces were also incredibly good. Lastly, I don’t even have words to describe how much I loved the dessert, the German chocolate cake, hands down the best cake I’ve ever had. I’ll be coming back for sure.

   I took my wife here for a little date night getaway. We were both pleasantly surprised by how delicious everything was. Our server Renne was the best in town and the food was cooked to perfection and displayed beautifully. Overall we were very happy with the whole experience. It will definitely be a staple for many dates to come.

    Very disqppointing. Tuna tataki was a tiny serving, room temperature with bland ponzu. Wild mushroom bruschetta was served on very tough and chewy bread. Medium rare striploin came medium well, plated on a pile of mashed sweet potato, supposedly chipotle flavoured but had no hint of chipotle smoke just a lot of cayenne. Green beans with almonds were essentally raw and inedible. My wife's filet mignon was good but arrived stone cold. The only bright spot of the evening was the server. The prices were at the top end of high quality establishments, which this by no means is. Won't be back.
