Matsu follows a new light in modern Japanese cooking while paying homage to centuries-old tradition. We honor the philosophies behind the culture and its cuisine while expressing the local terroir and what grows naturally around us. The menu is our study of pristine, simple ingredients, the overall experience a balance, providing a sense of omotenashi, or Japanese hospitality.

We currently offer a 10 course tasting menu that constantly is changing with the seasons and availability, featuring a wide variety of seafood and vegetables, a few meat courses, and desserts. We also have a la carte and vegan options available as well, and walk in guests are welcome to join us either at our bar, or if tables are available for the evening. With advance notice, we are happy to adjust the menu to accommodate most dietary restrictions. A5 Wagyu can be added for an additional $55 per person.

Three out of the 10 dishes were very good. The rest were OK. I’m sorry but definitely not worth the $185 price tag. I got the pescatarian version of the prefix menu and was definitely not full at the end of the meal. Yes it’s 10 courses but the portions are so tiny, they barely fill you up. I would not recommend and definitely would not be returning.

I really expected more. Service was great. Portions were very small. If the portions were bigger we would have enjoyed it more. Maybe throw in some bread or something to snack on. We left hungry after the 10 course meal. I think the last two courses were dessert. I did appreciate the creativity. Definitely a talented chef. Bartender and drinks were excellent

Unique and interesting food. Of our 4 dishes, two were great, 1 was alright 1 was not to our liking. Service was attentive and professional, ambiance was quite bare and utilitarian . Lots of sake choices, but quite expensive . Exhaust kitchen fan was quite loud, noticeable relief when it went off. Food was quite rich, tough to see how folks can navigate a 10 course tasting menu.

I was disappointed with my omakase Michelin experience. The wagyu came with an additional fee and wasn't included in the 10-course meal. On a positive note, Roland, the bartender, was outstanding, and the server was excellent. However, the food itself was not impressive.

It was a great experience. The service was fantastic. Everyone was very polite and friendly. All the servers were knowledgeable and helpful, answering questions and taking feedback. The food was outstanding. Every dish was delicious. We had the wine and saki pairing which greatly added to the meal and conversation. Highly recommend this place and want to go back again soon.

We tried 10 course tasting and I believe my expectation was too high. First few dishes were okay, Ebi was delicious, but from Abalone, all the dishes were too strong & salty for me. I waited until the last menu, Duck, really hoping it will recover all my disappointments, but the fat was jut not well rendered at all.. Meal ends with two desserts, it could have had much better taste profile if used less salt in it. But I have to give you, all the cocktails were delicious and creative. I would come for the drink only.

service outstanding - great team coverage of the table, attentive and respectful. food superb (in particular detail touches regarding combining textures and of course pairing of the ingridients; spice was a bit overpowering in one of the 10 courses, but raspberry and amberjack combo, or guava puree touch are memorable) and wine/sake pairing (even the basic selection) are noteworthy, in particular the german wines in course 1 and 3. doubt that most of the patrons present today appreciated it in its entirety. again, true team effort to make the experience very much excellent in every aspect of service. additionally, superb selection of the music to create the ambience. the experience could be elevated to the next level easily - loose the glaring finish on the tables that reflects the well spot lights, better chpsticks, and perhaps clth napkins. for ambience - how about limiting reservations to party of 4 to eliminate the "gathering" vibe at a larger table and move the sounds down, and atmosphere up to focus on the courses. overall - it is a gem and higly recommend
