   The food was all delicious. Our server was friendly and lovely. Once we understood how the menu worked we had fun picking out our items. Both of us made up our own combos - I am a light eater so two main plates was plenty and left room for the delicious pecan pie. The wine flights are really great - well priced and lasted the whole meal (often one glass doesn't get you through.) I loved both the halibut and the pork dishes. The beef was also great. It has a Parisian bistro feel - we had a seat in the middle of the room so it was noisy for us but maybe other parts of the restaurant are less so. We will definitely return!

   MEH... We ordered 4 small taster entrees plus an appetizer. The deviled eggs, complete with a fried oyster on top, was delicious and I was sure we were in for a great meal. Unfortunately, despite the beautiful presentation of all the dishes, the food lacked seasoning and flavor. While I wouldn't say it was bad, it did leave a lot to be desired. For example, the halibut was cooked perfectly and would have been delicious had it just had seasoning. It was almost like it'd been cooked with no salt so it was super bland. The garnish - a cauliflower puree and spinach with saffron and vanilla, also had absolutely no flavor. I'm not quite sure why they're claiming this is a New Orleans/New England fusion menu. I am from NOLA and I can guarantee if this came out of a restaurant there, the place wouldn't be open for very long. While I love the idea of smaller entrees so you can sample everything, I was very disappointed particularly given the high price point.

   The food, drinks, service and everything were excellent, but what sets Margeaux apart is the way they organize their menu. Every main dish is available in two sizes: a normal entree size and a smaller (~1/3) size that you can include in a "flight" of two or three dishes that together make up an entree. (You might even be able to get one as an appetizer -- I didn't ask.) This lets you try more things (there were lots of things I wanted to try on their menu) and control your portion size. Wine pairings come in small and large pours. The small is about 2 oz. I went with three friends and we all liked everything we tried -- food, mixed drinks and wine. I didn't know this before I got there -- my impression of the menu was "vaguely French" -- but Margeaux describes their cuisine as a blend of New Orleans and New England, not a combination I've encountered before but very delicious.

    As a native Southerner living in Boston for the better part of a decade, Margeaux truly brings together the best of my two homes! Fantastic food, great drinks, and such a cool environment. The Margeaux team has done such an incredible job and we’ll definitely be back!
