Great food and service. Nice facility, but could use some soundproofing. One of the best for excellent well prepared, fresh food.

Scoring a Saturday 7:15 dinner reservation felt like winning the lottery—it took persistence and a bit of luck to finally snag a table. Given all the hype, our expectations were high, but unfortunately, the food didn’t quite live up to it. Standouts for us were the truffle salmon and the grilled eggplant from the robata section—flavorful, well-cooked, and nicely presented. The chef’s sashimi platter featured fresh fish and a beautiful presentation, but it didn’t feel particularly unique compared to similar offerings at other upscale spots. The Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice was a letdown—the base tasted like it had been prepped hours in advance. Instead of the satisfying crunch we hoped for, the rice was chewy, and the tuna lacked flavor entirely. The Braised Beef Yaki Noodles were decent, generously portioned, but leaned too salty for our liking. For dessert, we went with the Toban Yaki, which sounded intriguing with passion fruit-white chocolate, almond cookie crumble, and mango sorbet. What arrived was exactly as described, but underwhelming in presentation and creativity—more of a deconstructed scoop situation than the refined dish we anticipated. Service was just okay. Our server was polite and clearly managing multiple tables, but there wasn’t much in the way of personalized attention or warmth. Overall, it was a mixed experience that didn’t quite justify the reservation chase or the buzz.

Another wonderful night at Makoto! Anthony is the finest of servers…fun, knowledgeable and warm. We brought friends and they were blown away by every dish. Highlights were the cucumber and seaweed salad, rock shrimp tempura and jalapeño hamachi. Anthony made the night super comfy and so much fun!!! Can’t wait to return!!

Server just stood there rubbing his face with his hands and would just stare out to the dining room. Seemed hungover or maybe drunk. Server told me the sushi sampler ($80) was omakase style but it wasn’t. It’s just a sushi plate. Sushi Rice was overcooked mushy in the inside and stale on the outside. The worst tuna crispy rice preparation I’ve ever had because the rice was over cooked again- lacked seasoning, and the crispy rice was cold. The tuna lacked flavor. The passion fruit cocktail too sweet, needed a little more hydration. Scallop Crudo was nice.

I purchased a gift card for my goddaughter as a Christmas gift. She tried to use it at a Starr restaurant in Fort Lauderdale. To my embarrassment there was no value on the card. On my visit to Makoto, this week, where it was purchased, they said nothing could be done. They didn’t offer any help or offer dessert or a drink for their mistake. I will not be going back.
