   Great dining experience. Never mind the view (which is exceptional- a hot dog would taste better at 40 floors up)- the food and service are amazing. Best martinis ever!

   Review for Major Tom Restaurant We made a reservation through OpenTable 11 days in advance and specifically requested a window table. However, upon arrival, we were not given a window table, and when we asked, we were told they were all reserved. To our frustration, the couple seated next to us mentioned they had made the same request and theirs was honored. We were also celebrating a birthday, but our main server didn’t acknowledge it or make the experience feel special in any way, which was disappointing. As for the food, the quality was good, but not outstanding. The flavors were decent but not particularly memorable—nothing that would make me want to return for the food alone. Overall, if Major Tom can’t accommodate requests made nearly two weeks in advance through OpenTable, perhaps they shouldn’t offer that option. The lack of attention to detail and customer care took away from what could have been a more enjoyable experience.

   Major Tom is an experience, a great place to go for an occasion being both elevated and relaxed, go as the sun is setting if you can so you can watch the light change - that view is definitely part of the appeal. The space is beautiful and lively, but the lightning was quite low so it still felt very intimate. The services was excellent and even though the room is large and the night was busy everything was well timed and the whole staff had gotten note that we were celebrating a birthday, a nice touch. We shared the aged striploin, and a selection appies, salads and sides- I’d suggest eating family style as a great way to get the most out of the menu, the Endive Waldorf salad was a standout :) For a birthday, the delightful and slightly retro glamour of a baked Alaska flambéed table-side was also perfect.

    A place my wife and I enjoying visiting when in Calgary. The view is great and the space is wonderful. We have had spectacular meals with phenomenal service, worthy of 5 stars. Last night the service fell apart. We waited an uncomfortably long time to see who our waiter was and then felt rushed through our entire meal. An appetizer and a main were presented together when we had requested them to come separately, for example. The scallops were divine, the cod was very good. The Cavatelli was over seasoned with salt. No one checked in on us to alert them of this. The Baked Alaska is a great ending. We will be back and assume this was just an off night.
