Magpie is a family owned and operated independent restaurant in Midtown Sacramento. Since 2005, Magpie has served farm to table fare that reflects the values of life in California’s Central Valley. Our menu has an interesting mix of dishes highlighting the season's best offerings of share plates, bites, and entree's.

We are more committed than ever to our mission of celebrating what makes our city and region special, and contributing to it by making seasonal, farm-to-table food in Sacramento.

We are walking distance from California's state capitol building and convention center on the corner of 16th and P Streets overlooking the beautiful tree filled Fremont Park. The lively restaurant space features artwork and murals from local artists with bar, booth and table seating. The open patio has a variety of tall and low tables surrounded by live edge wooden benches and Magpie's iconic yellow umbrellas.

I love this place. The food is creative but not silly, original but still approachable, and every single dish is just tasty as heck. The menu has something for everyone. Staff is almost tied with food for the best part. They are so warm, attentive, and relaxed. You get great service that isn’t stifling, and they like the place - it’s so clear. It just makes the experience so lovely from start to finish. Anytime I need to have dinner in SAC, this is the place I suggest. Everyone I’ve ever brought here leaves delighted and ready to make it their own go to. ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️🤷🏼‍♀️

Very nice food, thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. Service was attentive, but not intrusive. Beer and wine selections just right for us. I ordered the pork chop and my wife the gnocchi. Cost was well within reason.

It was our first time at MagPie and we were not disappointed! Friends had recommended it to us. We went out to celebrate our adult - vegetarian- daughter. There were several vegetarian options- including a “special” lasagna that was delicious. The small plate roasted carrots and humus plate began our meal- both plates were so good. We also had farm salads - generous portions and a “special” spiced cake- donut desert. The food tasted so clean. We loved our server and the casual, calm vibe at the restaurant. I also got a thank you email a couple days later! Amazing! We will be back .

Our favorite place in Sac. Last night we had a delicious shrimp salad, an outstanding butternut squash gnocchi and a tasty salmon. We topped it off with an ice cream-topped “donut”.

Beautiful presentation on food and cocktails. Service was a little rushed. Would like a few minutes to linger between courses. The only disappointment was the zabaglione dessert. Way too much diced fruit and the custard was very thin and exceedingly sweet. Wanted to order the special seasonal donut posted on the outside placard but apparently it was sold out despite still being on the board.

We came in for a friend's birthday. They have a DJ that was playing some of the best slow jams ever. While the ambience was a little loud and the lights were fairly bright for the experience, we overall enjoyed ourselves. Service was efficient and personalized. The arancini and tortellini were not as flavorful as we would have liked. Perfect space for dinner dates but maybe not larger parties of 4 or more. Would return and try again.
