This is our neighborhood restaurant that has new ownership. They kept a number of popular dishes, and added some Indian dishes, which we love. Service was very good, and it was fun to try some of the new items on the menu. We will return to try some other new dishes.

Very good food. It is expensive so I would suggest probably going there to celebrate this special occasion. The service was impeccable. Our server, Brian was very friendly and offered suggestions for other things to do while in Charleston.

This restaurant has changed hands a few times over the past few years after being Szmania's for a long-time and was a fixture of Magnolia Village. Not a lot has changed with the restaurant itself or the menu other than the addition of some Indian dishes that were quite delicious. The biggest change, at least from my visit, was the service. The restaurant wasn't very busy but our food took almost 45 minutes. Szmania's was known for their excellent service and combined with the food, justified the higher prices. Magnolia's Restaurant & Lounge needs to shore this up if they want to survive long-term.

Can’t say I’ll be heading back here anytime soon. Everything about this dining experience seemed off. The bread was a bit stale. Cobb salad was a somewhat wilted and the cheese on it was bland. The butter chicken was okay but the vegetables were over cooked. There were no outstanding flavors. The waitress was nice enough. The menus seemed well worn as did the check presenter. Both were greasy. Maybe we came on a bad night. There were only four other tables seated and if they want more, they will need to up their game.

This restaurant has changed names and owners over the past few years. Unfortunately, the quality has gone way down with the new owner. We had 3 dishes- the halibut, butter chicken and paneer. We also had the chickpea fritters as an appetizer. All disappointed. Both the butter chicken and paneer had the same curry base - so it was like eating the same dish. the curry base had a canned taste to it and was not good. The curry fritters were huge, like baseballs. The bread (which you now have to ask for) is now a cheaper and stale version of the bread that used to be served. In fact, it is like this restaurant is substituting cheaper ingredients and quality for a higher profit. We have eaten there now twice with the new ownership to give it a fair shake. It is very sad, as Magnolia really needs a good restaurant, but I would save your $$ and head to QA or Ballard if you want good food.

I loved the variety of the menu! Two of us ordered Indian dishes, and one ordered risotto. All were amazing and so well prepared. The server was clearly a professional. He was knowledgable, made helpful suggestions, was very courteous, and was attentive without being pesky. We enjoyed chatting with the owner. The restaurant is welcoming and comfortable.

New owners. Didn’t know it had changed hands. Looked it up by former name & found it. Waiter was kind but slow; especially slow to bring final bill.

Disappointing evening all around. Waited 20 mins to be greeted by Waiter. Waited another 30 mins for Vodka Martini order and it was not chilled. Waiter apologized for delay after one hour. One hour/25mins later dinner was served but Scallops were undercooked and other items listed on menu were not on plate, Butter Chicken was overcooked and rice was lukewarm, Beet Salad was unappetizing. Asked to speak with either mgr or owner THREE times. After 20 MORE mins, we walked away from table without eating since no one ever returned and food was inedible. Our waiter had been MIA. So, I spoke with another waiter to explain why we were leaving and would not be paying for our order. HE was very apologetic and said he wishes we had a better experience but understood why we were leaving. Restaurant was PACKED and only saw three waiters. Will NOT be returning but hopefully this feedback will help staff improve customer relations and food prep.
