Having read the reviews I was excited to take my husband the Little D’s for his birthday. The menu on Open Table had many things we both like. I understand the menu changes but the variety on the current one did not work well for us. The actual experience was disappointing. “Intimate’ here means tight. We moved our table away from the bar since the person sitting at the bar barely had room to get off her stool without hitting my husband. We also had some issues with the menu. Doctors orders keep me from kale that accompanied almost every dish. A request for substitution of something else on the menu was not accommodated; it had to do with having enough of the sides to match the other items on the menu but something from the shareables was not considered. Perhaps if I had known how minuscule the side would be I would have just requested it be left off. The price for the special was very high for what you got. That said the grouper and potatoes were well prepared if very small. The kitchen is somewhat slow in getting dishes out so a portion of bread would have been nice. The service was adequate. This was the first time there was no acknowledgment that this was a special occasion in the many years I have usedOpen Table. I thought it interesting that the server told the table next to us that people liked the Pavolva but it wasn’t his taste! The experience left a pall on what should have been a pleasant celebration.

We absolutely loved our dinner here! The service was great, each dish was a delight, and came out so fast. We tried several shareables, a main, and two desserts. Such hidden gem, exactly what we always hope for when trying out a restaurant for the first time. We will be back!

This was our first visit. Space is small but well decorated and the ambience was nice. Not loud but not quiet either. I had the Pork Tenderloin which was amazing and perfectly prepared. The apps and sides were all fantastic. Wine list was good and they have a full bar. Would definitely recommend and will be returning. Reservations are suggested

This was a very difficult review to write. The food was great. Absolutely top-notch. From the cauliflower soup and the roasted beets to the teres steak and the crayfish, everything was excellent. Here’s where things went wrong. We were the last reservation of the evening and were alone in the restaurant. The waiter told us to take our time and enjoy ourselves. We took him at his word and did just that. Within minutes of having finished our main courses and ordering an additional glass of wine, he dropped the check and then began turning off all the lights in the restaurant. Honestly, if they didn’t want our business, then they shouldn’t have accepted an 8:15 reservation or told us ahead of time that staff would be walking out and that they were closing the doors promptly at 9:15. A really uncomfortable end to what should have been a nice meal.

Fabulous meal last night - 4 of us had fish, and all of the dishes were perfectly cooked. It was the best grouper I've ever had. Wonderful, attentive service and a chaming, quiet atmosphere made for a very enjoyable meal.

The food is outstanding and it's a beautifully designed space. Many restaurants in Asheville aren't designed at all. Waiter was very knowledgeable. Nicely varied wine list.

Four of us enjoyed dinner at Little D's. The offerings were very good from both small/sharing plates and entrees. We had the gnochi and grilled broccolini for sharing. We had two orders of mahi-mahi, and one each of the pork tenderloin and teres filet. All were delicious and extremely well prepared. Our server provided just the right balance of attention for our table.

Love this neighborhood gem. Food and service always excellent. Wish piped in music was more in synch with the food and service. Tonight the rock music was loud and bordered on heavy metal making it hard to have conversation over... Something more jazz or acoustic would complement this fine place do much more.
