   This location has been a long time staple for me and I have noticed in the last year the quality has continued to go downhill. I have continued to support the restaurant hoping it would get back to the level it once maintained. Well last night will be the last time I will give Legal my hard earned money for dinner! I must say first the staff is the one consistent for this location- I was a regular and they always remember me and gave we a warm welcome. The service staff is attentive and pleasant. That means a lot in today’s restaurant world. The food however has continued to be disappointing. The best part of the meal were the oysters - since they had no part in them as far as cooking goes - however I will say the cocktail sauce was runny and had water in it. Really!!! We also ordered the Tuna Tataki - in previous times they would give you 10 pcs - then it went to 8 pcs and last night was 5 pcs. And the price was no bargain as well as the seaweed was black not green as it should be. So we didn’t touch that at all. We ordered the brussel sprouts with bacon - there were six halves of sprouts in a bowl and mushy. I am not one about large portions however reasonable portions for the price and quality of the food is more important. I don’t mind spending the money for good food. I will not ever eat at a Legal seafood again and it is so disappointing to me since this was a staple for me in my neighborhood. I work to hard for my money to dispose of it here. I have given them more than one opportunity to up the game yet it continues to disappoint. The new ownership should be ashamed of what they have done to this New England institution!

   In our reservation, I'd requested a table beside a window. When we arrived 15 minutes late, & during a snowstorm, instead of apologizing that there were no such tables available (if that was true), the host complained about our lateness & then seated us in the middle of the restaurant, next to the kitchen. Would've been nice to watch the snow falling. Daniella, our server, did a good job, but this turned into a pretty disappointing Valentine's celebration.

   Host and experience was great, little bit confused when we had to wait 15 minutes only for two semi-warm bread rolls. The fish was great but some of the vegetables tasted like they were just boiled and thrown on a plate, no seasoning on them whatsoever. Other than that, good place to enjoy a meal.

   Excellent service and the food was great! In fact although I planned on chowder and baked lobster, after the chowder came, I couldn't eat all the lobster and took the remainder home. Now I have joyful leftover memories. Slept good as well. It was a wonderful experience!

   Great, quick service and our meal was brought to us hot and right out of the kitchen. Food was as good as it was decades ago. All fresh fish and tasty sides. Chowder was the best and had just enough pieces of clams and chunks of potatoes. Rolls warm and filling.

   As usual, everything was great—food, service, atmosphere. Our server was extremely kind and patient with my grandson. However, I didn’t get points for this visit, even though I showed our server the app and gave him my cell number

   The bartender seemed confused that we asked for napkins and silverware. She was doubly confused when we asked for rolls. She brought our oysters before our drinks. The oysters were very tasty but whoever shucked them didn’t release them from the shell so that makes them difficult to eat. The Caesar salad dressing was not good. The chowder was fine, good clam flavor. And I know it’s my fault for trying the non alcoholic rose but there are some decent ones, the one you have is yucky. We won’t be back anytime soon.

    New Years Eve dinners can be hit and miss- sometimes with limited menus or short staffing. We were happy to book reservations for four just a bit in advance and were warmly greeted and seated. Our server was perfect- attentive, responsive, patient and knowledgeable. There's an extensive menu of mostly seafood but also some salads and meats. Scanning a QR code provided updated information of the sourcing location of most of the seafood on the menu- a very nice touch and indicative of the fact that Legal is a great place for fresh seafood. I was surprised that the beer menu was so limited although the drink menu and wine choices were better. There was a big surprise- there were no grilled scallops to be found which was what several of us were looking for. The scallop casserole could be lightened up to have mostly lightly breaded baked scallops which were ok, but I'm still surprised that a staple like grilled scallops weren't available. Other meals included surf and turf with twin filets and a lobster tail- all well prepared. For me the treat of the night was the octopus appetizer, which was tender, tasty and beautifully plated. My tuna was initially ordered rare by me but because of the type of cut I sent it back for a bit more cooking- which was done perfectly- a huge portion. All in all, a solid meal with great service.
