We ate at the bar with Mel as our server. She was great! We enjoyed the monkfish, crispy shrimp and pork rolls, beef rolls and tuna tartare. And of course we wouldn’t miss the wonderful tapioca!

We had the crispy vegetable spring rolls, cabbage chicken salad stir fry noodles and shaking beef, their most popular large plate. All were excellent. The dipping sauce for the spring rolls was a star. Excellent service too. Highly recommend.

Absolutely wonderful dinner Sunday night! Eddie was fantastic, and the food fabulous as always. My friends had the oxtail soup, highly recommended, and I had the house stir fry, which was delicious! Beautiful view of Oak Street with Christmas lights outside, and REAL flickering candles within!

Food was GREAT! Waitress was not. Would be willing to come back and try again because of how good the food was and hope for a better server. Our bus-boys worked harder. Waitress only asked us if we wanted another drink after we finished our food. At that point I wanted the check to leave. It was supposed to be a nice night out with my husband but for a higher end restaurant, the service we received to her was equivalent to a Denny’s. We wanted more drinks for a while but she was no where in sight. She came to ask how the food was and if we wanted another drink, after we were practically finished with dinner. She also did this for the appetizers we ordered. Turns out we were eating the vegetables rolls wrong. Wish she came to tell us how when they initially came out. Not when they were practically gone.

I don’t live in Chicago so I’m not that familiar with the restaurant scene. I was looking for just the right spot to host a very special Saturday lunch and I couldn’t have done better. From the lovely ambience to the world class service and food, it was just perfect.

From beginning to end we had a fantastic experience. The ambiance is just what we were looking for— dim lighting, attentive staff, minimal noise even with a full restaurant. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious and cannot wait to return and try something new.

Not my first time at Le Colonial but my first review. Relaxed ambiance with a Vietnamese theme. We were courteously seated and served, the service is as expected from a high-end dining experience. However, the food was the star of our dining experience. The mocktail lyche iced tea was 2 of 5 stars, probably wouldn’t order again. The chicken dumplings were amazing 10/10! Very flavorful accompanied by an equally tasty sauce. A definite must try. My first time trying pho which was delicious another 10/10. Crisp yet comforting broth flavors, perfect for the cold Chicago night. The crispy shrimp and pork rolls were also very good 8/10. For entrees, their specialty fried rice was excellent 10/10. The shaking beef was another favorite must try 10/10. Roasted salmon and chicken curry were good but not on par with our other menu choices, 6/10.
