Food prepared at Le Baratin is indeed classic with a modern twist. Classic in a sense of ‘old school’: our sauces are all made in-house, with a veal-based stock. These days, that is very rare.
For Brunch, the Croque Monsieur is a must-have. French peasant, or street food, is uniquely reinvented here.
Our wine list is mid-priced and extensively

Clement, our server, was exceptional. The food was a treat. The noise levels were a bit high but standard for restaurants these days.

I really like this restaurant. The food is delicious and they have a great offering for a 2 course meal. The service was just right and I got to practice my French with the waiter. Great ambience.

Thank you for your response and comment and we totally understand your point. But Canada is not England, and people have a different perception of reviews and comments here. The star system is to rate a restaurant in its own category. There is no way to compare a 3 stars Michelin and a pizza parlor, but both can have a high rating in their category; It'd be like comparing a Mini and a Porsche; different products but both 5* in their category. Cheers!

What a great little find! I went on a date and was looking gmfor good restaurants in the city. The ambiance immediately gave you a French vibe and all the waiters had a French accent. The servers were very attentive and they gave you time to enjoy your food. We shared the escargot and the salmon appetizer, both impeccable. For the mains he had the special beef bourguignon and I had the steak fries (with salad). Both were great although I preferred the steak the flavour was amazing. I'd I was to go back they I would get the Steak frites special. I'll be back :)

A beautiful little bistro in Toronto my partner and I went to on a recommendation via Reddit. Overall this was one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. The food from beginning to end was exquisite. We each ordered the 3-course meal which was incredible value for the freshness, flavor and incredible taste. My partner had the Gravlax, which was some of the best smoked salmon we've had, while I had the pear, brie and thyme tarte - do not sleep on their tartes they are exceptional. I had the fish special which was sole baked in parchment paper with vegetables and a butter sauce, while my partner had steak frites. The desserts were also divine. The atmosphere was soft and romantic, good for conversation and date night. Our server was attentive but not overbearing and came around just enough. A 10/10 experience and we would definitely come back the next time we are in Toronto. Cannot recommend it enough. Note: The restaurant is quite small, and would be difficult to get into without a reservation, especially at peak times.

Very French, skillfully decorated. Small room - only 10 tables - but not crammed too close. Noisy if you're hard of hearing; sound comes from people having a good time, not house music. Valentines Day fixed menu had plenty of delicious choices. 4 courses for $98 was very reasonable. Servings were generous, imaginative and nicely presented. Servers were helpful and attentive; allergy question handled nicely. Quite a young crowd, it seems. Certainly would come back.
