Lavender's patio is the place to dine in La Quinta, CA. The atmosphere is so special, with live music and ample heating. The menu is creative and delicious and the service attentive. Highly recommended.

We were there for my 84th birthday.my husband is 89. We were seated in a lovely quiet corner. I had one of my favorite foods. Duck, which was delicious. Beside us were a family of six, mother, father, and for young adult children . Obviously tourists. We got into a brief conversation with them and my husband mentioned it was my birthday. They asked how old and being very gracious. They said we didn’t look our ages. We talked a little more and then both enjoyed our dinners. They left before us and as they left, they said they’d given me a little birthday present so I figured they ordered a dessert or something. Instead, when our bill came, it was a little over $50 which was impossible for your restaurant they had paid $100 of our bill. That was a beautiful gesture, but I have no way of thanking them. I did ask the waiter if he could find out their name or if they had his phone number to extend the message from us, but the waiter said it was not possible. I know we didn’t look like we needed someone to be paying our bill but what a lovely gesture that was for my birthday I’m total strangers. It is good to know that even in these difficult times there are people who are very generous.

First the pros: Beautiful setting on the patio. The live music was easy to hear but quiet enough that it didn’t impede conversation. The cons: The pace of service was incredibly rushed. Our servers were polite and attentive, but we were made to feel like we needed to place our food order immediately. Once we had done so our appetizers arrived very quickly. We had barely finished our starter when our main dishes arrived. Same for dessert, pressure to decide now and then the desserts were there. Perhaps this is the preference of their clientele, but when I go to a high end restaurant I want to enjoy the experience not feel like I am being rushed out the door. The restaurant wasn’t full so it wasn’t as if our table was needed for the next seating. Some of our dishes were very good including the butter cake and the halibut feature. However, the wedge salad was sad. It wasn’t a wedge at all, instead about four leaves of lettuce in each ‘wedge’. Not much dressing or cheese. The wild mushroom soup was delicious in flavour but not hot. One rack of lamb was cooked perfectly, the other underdone. When advised of this our server reluctantly offered to take it to the kitchen and warm it up. Overall, I didn’t feel like we received value for money here. I didn’t leave feeling like we had an enjoyable experience. That was very disappointing as I have always heard good things about Lavender Bistro. I don’t see myself returning here any time soon. There are other restaurants of this caliber in the desert that I will go to instead.

If you are looking for wonderful and creative food, this is not the place for you. If you seek a beautiful atmosphere and quiet, Lavender Bistro is tops. My roasted chicken was just fine. The Au Gratin potatoes that accompanied the chicken were akin to a bowl of tasteless potato soup. So strange. I feel that it is important for people to know what you are getting when you spend a lot of money here.

First time dining at Lavender Bistro. Lovely spot! The outside dining has such great ambiance! The food is very good. We were given several recommendations to dine here and finally we gave it try. Everything was great but the service. First this is fine dining and the experience should be of leisure to enjoy. This is not a popular grill to turn over tables as fast as possible. Perhaps our waiter though very pleasant was in a hurry to end his shift. If that was the case turn the table to another server. It was crazy fast... which was not enjoyable.
