A resounding yes for the delicious French onion soup and beef Bourginon with mashed potato and green beans. The bread portion was positively laughable for the price and it is disappointing that ready made pastry is used for the tart bases. Tarte tatin wasn’t nearly as good as it usually is. Base was slimy. I’d still return as I love the food here generally, but I would skip the bread and try a different dessert next time. Service was efficient and as always, the chef does well to cope with such a tiny open kitchen.

We had booked an early meal for 6pm. We arrived 5.45 pm and were greeted and taken downstairs to our table. Just as we were about to sit down, we were told we had 2 hours. I said we wouldn’t be that long. But it is the worst possible start to a meal being told this. I knew from booking. Don’t they realise how it puts you off. So not sure we’ll be back. Sad as everything else good - as ever.

L’Artiste Muscle was busy last night, but - as ever - was excellent. It is a gem of a restaurant with a delightful menu, great house wines, a perfect atmosphere and perfect service.

Solid, hearty food, at a reasonable price. Service is always friendly and while the restaurant is a little cramped, it actually adds to the atmosphere.

The cod was exceptional , cooked on a bed of vegetables and a creamy sauce. The staff are very attentive and the it’s a nice touch to see the chef cooking in the kitchen if you are upstairs
