Since opening its doors in late 2015 in the enchanting neighborhood of South Park, San
Diego, KINDRED has garnered recognition which transcends its plant-based credo,
heralded as one of the city's premier dining institutions. It has been named EATER San
Diego's and San Diego Magazine's Restaurant Of The Year, topped Zagat San Diego's
Most Important Restaurant Openings, and earned an Orchid Award for interior
design from the San Diego Architectural Foundation. Overall the food was great. The drinks had way too much ice in them, but they did taste good. .. it was just all ice though. We came for my sister's bday, and I specifically asked in my reservation request to please make it special for her. No one mentioned her bday except for the host, and the server seemed uninterested that her food took about 20min after everyone at the table had already received theirs. The food runner was also a little rude to the table. The server did not seem invested in his job, and after we ordered the desert for the table, it was dropped off, and we had no silverware to eat it with or plates. Overall underwhelmed by the service we received that night. It did not feel special or fun for a bday celebration, so I would not recommend it to others.

The food here is so good. The ambiance and decor are really cool. The drinks are great too. I’ve been many times and will go back many times.

We enjoyed the food and drinks at Kindred - nice flavors - but I was very turned off that the mocktails had way too much ice and barely any actual drink (it felt like a scam). Likewise with the food - had the Double Cheeseburger and the portion was very small. I've been wanting to try Kindred for a while and I'm glad I experienced it but I won't be back! In conclusion, it feels very beneath your establishment to shortchange customers by making the mocktails mostly ice and the portion sizes so small.

Took four non-vegan colleagues and everyone of them thought the dinner and craft cocktails were fantastic. Highly recommend taking a small group of mixed diners for the experience and food!

Bad service but everything else was great. The bad service interfered with the meal though— drinks came as a final course after we finished everything else lol
