Est. 1991. Jean-Georges' first restaurant, and named after his childhood nickname that his mother would call him, has recently reopened in a duplex townhouse on the Upper East Side, creating a modern and fresh design, yet still maintaining an understated, warm and friendly atmosphere.     we go to Jo Jo not that often but whenever we used to go it was for the food and its quiet atmosphere. The food has deteriorated: every dish was too spicy, even the breast of duck, though delicious, had a sauce poured over it, that was too spicy. I heard they had a new cook, which is too bad since it meant a great descent into mediocrity. We will never go back....which is sad since we have fond memories of past meals.

    We dine here often because JoJo consistently delivers a high-quality dining experience. Often, it's the little thing -- like last night's Roasted Beets, Avocado Purée, Flavors of Tartare salad, which was a delicious reconception of a roasted beet salad. We'll be back!

    Food, Service, deserts, coffee, ambiance were all very nice, very nice. I highly recommend this place. However, when I tipped our lovely waitress in cash, some woman came over to my date, not me, and asked about the tip that wasn’t on the bill. There was a discussion so to speak, no apology. Who was she to get in the middle of us and start a scene with all of us? I suspect this is a rare occurrence here, but I wanted to make note. Additionally, I as a young man, I did food Service, inside-out for 12 years and cooked for 500+. Never seen this.

    It was a wonderful experience. The food was amazingly good, the server, Melanie, was attentive and personable and did a great job. I’ve been to JoJo before but last night was extraordinary! Can’t wait to go back.

    We very much enjoyed our visit to JoJo. The food was very good, excellent quality and delicious. Our only negative observation was that it was difficult to hear yourself speaking as the acoustics were not great.
