John Howie Steak features two wood fired grills, mesquite charcoal and applewood that add subtle flavors to the foods. The wine list features a "Best of Award of Excellence" from Wine Spectator. Enjoy classic and seasonal specialty cocktails, or the world’s finest single-malt scotch, bourbons and fine cognacs in the lounge. Two beautifully appointed private dining rooms are available for meetings or special occasions. A 20% service charge is included on each check. John Howie Steak retains 100% of the service charge.     Overall outstanding steak, outstanding service. My only gripe— A bit pricey for a restaurant where the restroom is outside, and it was a bit cold in the restaurant from the foot traffic. Those are really minor issues for what is invariably one of the best steaks I’ve ever consumed. We ordered an A5 Wagyu filler, the 45 day dry aged ribeye, a 21 oz NY strip and a rib cap steak. All were excellent. Nice crust on all— including the ,, and first time I’ve had A5 Wagyu outside of Japan. It was melt in your mouth amazing— but the 45 day dry aged ribeye —no funk (which I like) was extraordinary and the favorite for all in our group. Sides consisted of bread ( excellent with the butter and a selection of salt, deviled eggs and Caesar salad— dressing a little watery, but the croutons were quite tasty, the dressing slightly fishy—not overt. Personally ok— I devoured it., but better with a fresh cantabrian anchovy than whatever they chose, it’s understandable. Mushrooms asparagus and fries— also delicious. Service was the best I’ve experienced in recent memory. Everyone on staff super attentive, super knowledgeable and friendly. Looking forward to another trip. Easily the best steak in all Seattle

    Excellent service, knowledgeable and witty. Incredible food. Chateaubriand was delicious and perfectly prepared. Sommelier helped decide on bottle for pairing. Surprise complimentary dessert for our birthday boy too. Very special meal.

    Everything was great, my Delmonico NY was undercooked. $100+ for a steak, cooks need good thermometers and to use them.

    Love coming here for special occasions. That being said I’ve been surprised the last few times how many tables have small (and sometimes loud) children at them. It’s unexpected at such a high end steak house but that’s Bellevue for you. The food is as always incredible. Pro tip: if you love the deviled eggs as much as I do but don’t want the full app you can ask for just two. Oysters were delicious. And our waiter suggested a smaller ceasar as we wanted to split both it and the lobster bisque. Great idea at the table side ceasar is huge. We got the porterhouse to split to and must remember to order it medium next time so that the meat closest to the bone is still a nice medium rare. Hubbie loved the double bananas foster and I enjoyed getting my vanilla bean ice cream plain. Again kuddos to the staff for their flexibility. Sent home with a birthday chocolate lava cake so our celebration could continue. They truly know how to make a special night for us.

    If you’re looking to please a picky steak-lover, look no further. John Howie is the best! We also had the oysters on the half-shell and sea bass. Very fresh and tasty! If only I could afford to eat here every week! We came for a birthday celebration, and the server brought us a birthday cake at the end of our meal. Great service!

    Very average food not worth paying premium price for it. Service was great, place is also nice, unfortunately food was not different than any entry price Steakhouse. Super disappointed.
