Housed in a glorious Southern mansion in the heart of Music City, Jimmy Kelly’s continues to be the standard by which all American steakhouses are measured. Founded in 1934 while the country was in the throes of the Great Depression and just one year removed from the repeal of prohibition, Jimmy Kelly made a promise to himself and his diners. Simply put, he would serve a great steak, a generous portion of whiskey and insure the service was always attentive. Making good on that promise has been the cornerstone of the restaurant’s success and enabled it to survive and flourish. Now over 80 years later and operated by the third generation of Kellys, it has earned a reputation as one of the grand old restaurants not only in Nashville but the entire southeast. Come anytime and enjoy a great steak and a generous portion of whiskey!

Service was top notch. Scott was outstanding. They have made great improvements since we were there last. Enjoyed our meal. We shared a crab cake, filet Oscar style, corn brûlée, Brussels sprouts and carrot cake.

I had made reservations to celebrate my Mother's 87th Birthday. Jimmy Kelly's holds many great memories for my Mother as she and my Dad had celebrated a special dinner on their wedding night at Jimmy Kelly's (61 years ago). Scott was our server and was so professional and attentive to our every need. He walked us through the menu and explained the sauces and the sides (Kate's potatoes) which helped us in ordering. The meal was wonderful and we will definitely be back.

Our experience wasn’t that great! We celebrated 3 birthdays and no one ever mentioned it! No desserts nothing. We’ve been celebrating these bdays for years with Claude . He made them special! We had Isaac and he wasn’t very nice at several times. We asked him to remove the dirt dishes and he said he would later in a hateful manor! He sat down at the table behind us and showered them with kindness as we needed drinks refilled. There was 8 of us and we usually tip big! He got more than he deserved! No mention of our birthdays!

Amazing service and staff. Steaks and menu were much improved. Hence, very overpriced compared to Sperry's, Hall's Eddie V's, Fleming's, etc. and dropping salad/side that was inclusive for my 45 + yrs as a loyal customer. The smaller ole school "Ho Cakes" are missed vs the new version. Excited about the 2025 renovations and rooftop always great seeing Mike at the bar !

Our service was great, we arrived a few minutes early for our reservation, and they seated us right away. The server was fabulous, and I could tell he was a veteran waiter for sure. We used to love the calamari here, but the quality of it was much lower this time, which was a bummer because that’s one of the reasons we love Jimmy Kelly’s. The steaks were cooked properly, and they were delicious. If the calamari had tasted better, it would have been a 5 star experience, which is what I expect for a place like Jimmy Kelly’s. Overall, I still plan to return for special occasions or when I want one of the best steaks in Nashville.

We were at Jimmy Kelly’s early spring since then the prices have doubled and haves changed the menu.Our favorite was the blackberry cobbler and they use to have a half filet and baked potato and a salad.Now they are priced individually.I know with inflation prices have gone up but not to this extreme.New owners need to see that changes are not always for the better and the Kelly’s knew the restaurant business!!
