Borrowing its name from an influential 1850s-vintage bar in the Central Business District, this pub-like tavern (with courtyard) occupies an old brick Creole cottage in the French Quarter, where well-known local bartender Chris Hannah serves up cocktails both classic and contemporary. London-born chef Philip Whitmarsh runs the kitchen.
Accolades include James Beard, World 50 Best, Art of Hospitality, Best Bar South (North America).

From the OpenTable editors: In a brick cottage with blue shutters in the French Quarter, you’ll find one of the best bars in the world, a James Beard Award winner ranked on the World’s 50 Best Bars. Beloved local bartender Chris Hannah shakes innovative cocktails like a curried banana colada or bologna negroni (say it out loud) starring mortadella-infused Campari. It’s worth staying for dinner, to sample half a dozen different types of caviar and unusual cuts like wagyu tongue and duck neck sausage.

Incredible cocktails that were a great balance between classics done expertly and creative takes. Service was excellent, attentive, and knowledgeable. We loved the food, especially the desserts. The coconut panna cotta with passion fruit was unbelievable.

This tucked away spot housed in a 19th century restored house is a true hidden gem! Seating limited, so reservations are highly encouraged. With a variety of spirits, there’s a drink for everyone. The drinks are splendid. But the food is what really impressed me. Focused on smaller bites, the flavor really packs a punch! Everything we tried was spectacular.

Wow! What a special treat! The drinks were first rate and the food was beautiful. We had the cauliflower, burrata, and snapper. We would order it all again.

My wife and I had some amazing cocktails that were recommended by our awesome server Hannah, or Hannah Banana as she goes by. We will definitely be coming back to this spot. It truly is a Jewel of the South!

No doubt about it - this is a tremendously exciting and invigorating menu. The chef clearly has his eye on British cuisine but every just screams innovation and well-thought out innovation. Highly, highly recommend this restaurant! My suggestion for the Eccles cake and stilton desert. Cut (exactly) the right amount of stilton and weave into the very neatly cut Eccles cake to make a cross or, why not, a Union Jack (Union Flag)? Fabulous and thanks for being out there original, very skill and generally awesome!
