We’ve been enjoying Indigenous since it opened and it never disappoints. You can never go wrong with the fish specials, the Parmesan beignets and the roasted mushrooms.

Went to celebrate my girlfriend’s birthday. Service was great staff was very knowledge and friendly. The entire staffed worked together to deliver the best experience they could. Food was incredible. Some of the best food we have ever had in the Bay Area.

Charming restaurant in a residential setting. Limited menu that changes weekly (suggest looking at menu on line before making reservations. Food was excellent, creative. Service was perfect. Would highly recommend.

Food took forever and we were dining late when restaurant was not full. Also one of the few gluten free entrees on the menu was already sold out by the time our order was as taken. The fish I ended up eating was overly buttered. Just not worth it. My husband and daughter left while I stayed to pay the check because we were so annoyed by the slowness and mediocrity.

We are sorry you did not enjoy your experience. Working with fresh ingredients sometimes we run out if there is a big push on an item. It is difficult to predict what will sell sometimes. Slowness and mediocrity is not something we would like to hear happening. We will address this with our staff.

A Hidden Gem in More Ways Than One We arrived at Indigenous with high expectations, but our night started on a disappointing note when one of our party members fell ill and couldn’t join us. With a smaller group, the staff moved us from our original table to what felt like an afterthought—a dimly lit alcove that initially seemed like a downgrade. At first, we worried the night might not live up to our expectations. But then, everything changed. Our server (also the bartender) turned out to be an absolute star. She was warm, attentive, and made us feel like VIPs despite our less-than-ideal placement. She walked us through the menu with genuine enthusiasm, offering thoughtful recommendations that ended up being the best choices of the night. And the food? Absolutely phenomenal. Every dish was beautifully prepared and bursting with flavor. The mushroom appetizer was a standout, perfectly balanced and cooked to perfection. Even the smallest details, from the appetizers to the desserts, were executed flawlessly. By the end of the meal, we realized that what had started as a disappointment had transformed into one of the most memorable dining experiences we’ve had. The quiet alcove actually became a cozy, intimate space where we could truly enjoy the food and conversation without distraction. Indigenous proved that exceptional service and outstanding food can turn an unexpected situation into something truly special. We’ll definitely be back—and next time, we might even ask for that hidden alcove.

Thank you Stacey for all your kind words. We are glad you ended up enjoying the Wine Cottage where you were seated. The main house can get really loud, so a lot of our guests prefer to sit in the cottage. You can request that next time you make a reservation. We appreciate you sharing and hope that you guest that could not join you is doing much better.

What a fantastic meal. Delicious, creative dishes, and we loved the commitment to sustainable fishing. The ambience of the building (a former house) was a great vibe also.
