Melbourne Hwaro Korean BBQ is a place where one can fully enjoy that authentic Korean taste. Located in the CBD the restaurant is always full, even on the weekdays, as the smell of the BBQ floats down from the terrance stopping people in their tracks.

Just like mother used to make
Taste is something Hwaro is particular about. Taste is what owner and chef Eunsook Kim is mostly concerned with. Her dignified and somber character, reminds many people of their own mothers.

Kim herself is essential to Hwaro. The preparations for all the meat and sauce available at Hwaro are handled by Kim alone. This includes supervision of the slicing of the Karubi (boneless short ribs), and preparation of the 23 different ingredients* needed for the hot pepper Sangyu Pusaru seasoning. Nearly all of the seasonings lined up on the tables are Kim's own creations.

Not as good as it used to be menu is now on QR code. The wagyu scotch fillet is paper thin now where as before it was thick. No set menu for 2 people. Rice came out 35 mins later then the food.

Our server was attentive, cooking our food to perfection and ensuring we had everything we needed. The food arrived quickly, and the quality was excellent. The highlight was the personal touch from the manager, who not only checked in on us but also joined in cooking while chatting with us. The combination of great food, fast service, and warm hospitality made for an unforgettable meal. Highly recommend.😋❤️👌🏾

Very unusual service where 7 people were served with 2 sides and lettuce in first round was enough just for 1 per person. Side included beef and when I said we don’t eat beef, the response was we cannot change it to something else. Only 1 kimchi side dish to share among 7 people. Upon request the portion served was still not what it used to be previously. For $185, we still had to go get pizza afterwards. Not sure what went wrong this time around given I booked over 12 hours in advance. Extremely disappointed!!
