   I can’t recall how many friends I have referred to Larkspur for their French onion soup with short rib, which is/was my favorite thing in the valley. You can’t imagine how sad we were to plan a get together recently, just to hear it was no longer on the menu. The rest of the menu is somewhat small, but we still managed to have a good dinner. The servers are fabulous, the ambiance is beautiful and fun and the music was awesome. Please bring back the soup.. it was delicious and different.

   The food and service were good. But we went specifically to see the Art of Sax band. The website showed they were going to be there, but were told when we got there that they had “another gig”. Very disappointing.

   The dining area was nicely decorated. The service was good. The crispy calamari was good, but there was also a lot of fried hot peppers mixed with it and the sauce drizzled was spicy so we had to pick around those. The short rib stroganoff was very good. The beer marinated chicken was ok, but not as moist and tender as we thought it would be. It was very bland unless you ate the skin that had all the seasonings. We don’t typically eat the skin of chicken so the dish ended up being just OK. Was nicely prepared, however. Also, we were hoping to have the chocolate mousse for dessert, although it was on the menu, it wasn’t available. The entertainment was good … a singer/guitarist who had a good voice and played familiar songs, We felt a little bad for him because there were only three tables of diners and a few people at the bar and we were the only ones paying much attention to him. The other tables were caught up in their conversations. It must have been difficult for him to play to an inattentive crowd.

   Not happy to have to pay a service charge for music while we were eating dinner. Will not rush back. I’m sure you can sit at the bar and NOT pay that charge!

   I was texted the day of my reservation that there is now an added $6/person entertainment charge. I had friends lined up to go so I didn’t cancel. Not sure I will return this season. The staff is not overly friendly…nor, the food anything to write home about. This isn’t the first time I felt “marginal” about spending my money here.

   Food and service are extraordinary. Beth the bartender is high energy and lots of fun. She really cares about her guests and goes out of her way to ensure they have have a perfect experience. Entertainment extremely talented. Note to other diners. Tip the musicians. $$$ They work really hard to provide a great musical performance.

   Food was just ok. Pricey for what you got and the wine list was very limited for anything less than $100. The live music and the decor were great.

   We had so much fun and a wonderful dining experience at the Larkspur Grill. Food, service, live music, and beautiful patio made for a very lovely evening. Afterwards we went to play bags on the green space associated with the hotel, had a cocktail out there and enjoyed the beautiful art and 1954 Cadillac on display in the lobby.

   Food was excellent and the entertainment was good but the service was poor. Server disappeared for long stretches, water didn't get refilled without long delays and it took 25 minutes from the end of dessert to paying the bill. Not an enjoyable experience.

    Always delightful here. Great food, beautifully presented; and the staff is professional and friendly. Janine welcomed us with a smile and hello, as always, and was there for anything we needed. Give it a try!
